So initial thoughts on the new HTTYD spin off ‘Dragons: The Nine Realms’ are that I don’t think it’s going to be good and it just feels like they’re milking the franchise for money at this point, and after THW and the direction they took that in I really don’t think Dreamworks is going to make anymore content out of the HTTYD franchise that I’m going to like.

Also there’s no way Night Lights (at least I think it’s a Night Light) still somehow have those same blocks of black and white that first generation Night Lights have 1300 years later, they would probably just look like slightly darker light furies with some really faded markings.

The only pro I can really think of is maybe we’ll get to see more of the Hidden World and this show might give more of an insight into how dragons live down there and a look at more than just the few chambers and tunnels we saw in THW?

But yeh, don’t have high hopes for this

So I remembered someone who worked on HTTYD 1 saying that Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship was more than just a boy and his pet and I wanted to find it and found a transcript of what I’m pretty sure is the filmmakers audio commentary on the first film (it’s a bonus feature thing you get with the blu-ray)

I find it ironic how they said in this commentary that Toothless would look like a toy if he was just all one shade of black and the fact that they included Toothless in the final scene to support Hiccup when he wakes up because they didn’t want their friendship to be reduced to just a cowboy and his horse, when that’s exactly what they did in HTTYD 3.

Okay so according to Dreamworks the Deathgrippers are “bad” and “evil” dragons because they’re attacking under Grimmel’s command even though they are abused and drugged into doing it,,,, but the Rumblehorn who has it’s own free will that attacks Hiccup and Astrid in the Hidden World (who are unarmed) for no reason at all can be aggressive and almost kill some non-threatening humans without being called “bad”??

So I was thinking for the Isle Of Night AU that somehow Hiccup and Toothless find Drago’s Bewilderbeast (maybe living with Dauntless’ Night Fury flock??) but they are more docile now that they aren’t under Drago’s control and have been recuperating for the last year or so and Toothless and the Bewilderbeast make amends and in the final battle with the trappers the Bewilderbeast appears to help take down the trapper ships and they actually get some pay back for the abuse they endured

Was going through HTTYD 1 screenshots frame by frame and found that in the counter attack scene Toothless actually manages to create holes in the Red Death’s wings and then proceeds to fly through them after he blasts them, before I thought he was just weakening her wings so they would tear during the dive because the scene is so quick that it’s hard to tell what’s going on but he actually creates massive holes in them.

I love the details in these shots,,, the scratches on the tree trunk from Toothless probably trying to slow his fall

And whilst looking through screenshots I also just realised that there are a ton of scales stuck in the mud that got scraped off of Toothless as he skidded through the dirt when he fell

They really c h o n k i f i e d his chest between 2 and 3

Also it doesn’t really make sense to me for them to make his chest bigger considering night furies are supposed to be aerodynamic, sleek and fast and this would only slow him down?? And httyd 3 is only set a year after 2 as well
