Summary: Dusk’Splash spots Stoat’Star and HollyBright’s playful bickering with each other.
—
Sunshine bristled through tall stalks of grass, with hardly a cloud in sight. Dusk’Splash was bathing in the sun while cats conversed with each other. He never really eavesdropped on said conversations, though it was interesting to hear what cats wanted to say.
Two small bundles of brown fur rushed past his paws, tails held straight up chasing after a ball of moss. “Watch this Spark’Kit!” One of the kits, Aspen’Kit squeaked, before pouncing onto the moss and rolling against the camp ground.
Hearing the mews of joy and excitement from the kits made Dusk’Splash purr with a reminiscent feeling of joy, recalling how Stoat’Star and Holly’Bright used to playfully chase each other around camp.
The two always had a close bond, not once leaving each other’s side from kits to warriors. Even now, he could see the two snarking a few lighthearted arguments by the fresh-kill pile, mewling about how one hunted better than the other.
“Bet that squirrel would have sent you stumbling over the reeds if you didn’t fall from a tree first!” Stoat’Star meowed, but Holly’Bright shook her head stubbornly, “At least I managed to catch a fish without falling onto my side.” She protested, with Stoat’Star giving a gasp of ‘offense’. Dusk’Splash only shook his head dismissively, too full of joy to complain about the noise the two cats were making.
He was brought back from his thoughts when he felt a ball of moss hit his paws. He looked up and saw the two brown kits skitter to halt just a mouse length away, their eyes wide like moons. He only purred and hit the ball of moss, sending it across the camp. Almost instantly, the two kits raced after it, like a MeadowClan hunting patrol pursuing a rabbit on the moors. Spark’Kit stopped in her tracks and turned back to Dusk’Splash, mewing a ‘Thank you’ before running back to their littermate.
Dusk’Splash rested his chin on his paws, happily dozing as warm memories of moons long past seared into his mind, giving comfort as he rested.
