December 9, 2023 - Dusky Flycatcher (Empidonax oberholseri) Breeding in parts of western Canada, much of the western United States, and a small area in northwestern Mexico, these tyrant flycatchers winter in Mexico and a small part of the southwestern US. They feed on insects, usually capturing them in flight and sometimes picking them from the ground or plants. Females likely build the cup-shaped nests from grasses, weeds, and bark and line them with grass, hair, plant down, lichen, and feathers. They incubate clutches of two to five eggs alone but both parents feed the chicks.
