DustyClan applications are now open!

Less than a moon ago, DustyClan's only Reverend, Cranestep, was found murdered on his way to the half-moon meeting. There were no clues about his murder aside from brown furs and the vague scent of RustClan found at the scene. Merlinstar has tried her best to hold her clan together, but many of her cats are eager to turn the blame to the clans outside their borders.

Now, DustyClan is a clan held divided, only barely held at bay by their leader while tensions simmer beneath the surface. Will the cats of DustyClan put away their biases in order to solve Cranestep’s death, or will they let mistrust and doubt destroy them from the inside?

Chasing Thunder is a 16+ warrior cats roleplay set in the American Great Plains during the 1890s. Chasing Thunder centers around three clans - PrairieClan, DustyClan, and RustClan - and the new world that they’re living in following a war with the brutal Red Claw Gang.

Chasing Thunder focuses heavily on player engagement and allowing players to affect and become invested in the story. The actions of individuals matter greatly, and may permanently change the course of the plot. Players will be given the opportunity to suggest their own plot ideas and create characters as part of overarching story beats in order to influence the world of Chasing Thunder.

INTRODUCING

>> Arrowpaw | DustyClan Apprentice Warrior | 12 moons | pronouns up to rper, afab | ADOPT

Arrowpaw is a DustyClan apprentice who feels like they carry the whole world on their shoulders. Their parents, Riflesight and Dognose, were long-time mates who intended on having kits once the war was over. Dognose was injured in the fighting, but was not killed outright - it was infection that killed him after the battle, after Riflesight found out that they were expecting kits. Arrowpaw was born as the lone kit in their litter, and once they were weaned, Riflesight left the clan, angry that they allowed RustClan to live beside them when the former gang had killed their mate.

Without any other family, Arrowpaw has grown up communally raised by DustyClan and all of the nurses. They were friends with DustyClan’s Reverend, Cranestep, and thought of him like an older brother before his murder. Arrowpaw was one of the ones on the patrol that discovered the deceased Reverend’s body. Having grown up in the wake of the war, it was the first real violence Arrowpaw witnessed.

Given their history, it is no doubt that Arrowpaw has complicated feelings about RustClan. Do they agree with the accusations against the former gang, or do they believe in second chances?

INTRODUCING

Supposedly abandoned by the cat that birthed them, Highnoon was taken into DustyClan before they opened their eyes. Despite never truly knowing a life outside the clan, they never seemed to take to the clan lifestyle of training, hunting and patrolling, although as they grew older, they became an exceptional fighter out of necessity. 

During the war, Highnoon got closer to the Reverend Cranestep who they grew up with, and the two eventually fell in love and became mates. It was Highnoon's one source of happiness in a time when they were falling into despair, always having despised fighting despite their skills. The two of them knew it was a forbidden love, but they were willing to work around it some way.

Highnoon was ready to continue life with Cranestep and find a way to live their truth with him after the war ended and things in the clans settled down, but now in the wake of their mate's death, they fear that the past year was just the calm before the storm.

INTRODUCING

Saddleback is a Master Warrior of DustyClan, known for having a tongue almost as sharp as their claws. They were born alongside their sibling, Leatherface. The two were identical twins, and they spent all their time together, even after they became warriors. Leatherface was eager to find adventure, and Saddleback followed them in their pursuit of it. Fifty moons ago, the two left camp to confront a group of dogs that had been chasing away prey in DustyClan’s territory. Saddleback was promoted to a Master Warrior upon their return. Leatherface did not return at all.

When the Red Claw gang came to the clans’ territories, Saddleback’s mother, Stirrupshine, was one of the first cats killed in conflict with them. Shortly after, their other parent, Horsepelt, died from their broken heart. Saddleback fought hard in the war against the gang, and has since been vocal in their dislike for RustClan. 

Recently, their uncle, Tinspit, has disappeared from the clan and been presumed dead. Without any family left, one is left to wonder what’s tethering Saddleback to DustyClan - is it simple clan loyalty, or something else entirely?
