Babysitting (DHMIS TinLamp) ------------------- I got an ask requesting that Steak Guy and Fridge (or even BB) babysitting Dusty. And this is a combined fanfic, because my other buddy wanted another Dusty fic! :D Hope you guys like it. --------------------- "Come on, Dusty, open wide for Mommy!" Spinach Can was saying softly, as she held a spoon up toward her daughters mouth. Dusty squirmed in her high chair as she kicked her little feet. "NO!" "Please, sweetie?" "NO!" Spinach sighed and put the spoon down. Dusty sure was stubborn when it came to eating baby food. It had only been a few months, and she and Larry were having no sleep for the past week. Dusty kept crying, and always waking them up. Steak Guy walked over and gave Spinach Can some eggs. Spinach sighed heavily and thanked him, taking the plate. "Thanks, Dad." "No problem honey. How's Dusty eating her food?" "Not too good. She doesn't want to eat it at all." Spinach muttered, chewing on her scrambled egg with her fork. "And I thought that parents could do this easy..." "Hey, when you were born believe me, it was the hardest job ever." Steak Guy said with a smile. "You were pretty noisy, and you hated eating baby food. You smashed it on my face once, you know." Spinach smiled. "Really? I did that to you?" "Yup." The steak nodded, going back over to the counter and giving a plate to Bread Boy, happily began to eat his eggs. Larry then stumbled into the kitchen, dark bags under his eyes. He looked extremely tired. "H-Hey guys..." "Morning, Larry." Fridge said with a wave. "Hey, oh geez you don't look so good, Lar. You okay?" Spinach asked, as she tried putting the spoon up to Dusty's mouth again. Dusty garbled some nonsense and slapped the spoon away, making it land on the floor. Larry sighed in frustration and picked the spoon up, handing it back to his girlfriend. "I'm fine. Just tired." He rubbed his eyes sleepily and sat down. He glanced at the pouting Dusty and frowned. "She still not eating?" "Nope..." Spinach Can said with a angry sigh, putting the spoon down. Dusty began to chew on her hand, while giggling. She then slapped the high chairs table, making the baby food bowl bounce. "You two should get some sleep." Steak Guy said, his back turned as he broke a few more eggs into a bowl. "We can't...we have to feed Dusty, Dad." Spinach Can said tiredly, yawning into her hand. Dusty banged her hands on the table again, and Larry's face twitched in annoyance. That noise was really starting to bug him. "I'm serious, you two look like you could pass out any moment." Steak Guy turned around and walked to the two. "Please, how about you go get some rest? Me and Fridge and Bread Boy will look after Dusty." "You'd do that?" Larry mumbled sleepily, looking up at the teacher with a tired face. "Yeah, really? She's quite a handful you know." Spinach Can said, looking at Dusty as she said it. Dusty giggled loudly and kicked her feet again. "Yeah, of course. Go get some sleep you two." Steak Guy sternly said, "We will babysit Dusty while you sleep." Larry happily stood up, picking up Spinach Can in his arms as he gave Steak Guy a relieved and tired smile. "Thanks, Steak Guy. We appreciate it." Fridge waved them both off as they exited the kitchen. Steak Guy looked down at Dusty, then at her food bowl. His eyes narrowed as he grabbed it, bringing it to his nose. He took a whiff and nearly gagged. "This stuff is UNHEALTHY." He said with disgust, putting it in the sink. "No wonder Dusty didn't want to eat it, it smells gross!" "Then why couldn't Spinach smell it?" Bread Boy asked, still eating his eggs. "Maybe because she was too tired to know. Or care." Fridge said quietly, glancing at Dusty. Steak Guy sighed and went over to Fridge. "Do we have any fresh baby food left?" Fridge opened his fridge door and rummaged around inside. He then took out a little bowl of baby food: carrots. He smiled and handed them to the teacher. "Thank you." Dusty glanced at the bowl in Steak Guy's hands, as he placed it down on her table. "Alright Dusty, I'm going to try and feed you, okay? Be nice to your Uncle." Dusty laughed and drooled eagerly, slapping her hands on the table again. Steak Guy smiled and picked the spoon up that was left on the table and mixed it with some of the carrot mush. He then brought it to Dusty's mouth. To everyone's surprise, Dusty opened her mouth, and allowed the food to be brought in. Steak Guy's eyes widened in shock. She was actually eating! "That's a good girl." Dusty giggled happily as she took in another spoonful. Fridge and Bread Boy both watched in amazement and relief. The little girl was finally eating some food. And it was healthy too! Soon, the carrot mush was all gone. Dusty had eaten it all. Steak Guy put the bowl and spoon in the sink and picked Dusty up and out of her high chair, cradling her in his arms. He was starting to remember all the times he held Spinach Can like this. It was a nice thing to remember. Fridge opened his door again and took out a baby bottle, filled with milk. "How's about some bottle feeding? She must be pretty thirsty." He handed the milk over to Steak Guy. Steak Guy hovered the bottle over Dusty's face, and she took it in her mouth, sucking quietly as her eyes closed slightly. Fridge 'awww'ed' to himself, and so did Bread Boy. Steak Guy rocked Dusty gently as she kept sucking on the bottle. "There we go, you're a thirsty little one, aren't you?" He chuckled. He then took the bottle out of her mouth, as it was now empty. Dusty yawned quietly and closed her eyes, snuggling into the bigger teachers embrace. She was falling asleep. "She's tired," Steak Guy muttered to the others. "What should I do? Bring her to her crib?" "Yes." Fridge said. "Make sure you set the baby monitor up." Steak Guy nodded, as he then walked or with Dusty. She was now snoring softly, now asleep. Steak Guy then walked into her room, going in as quiet he could be. He then went over to her crib and set her down gently, putting a teddy bear in her little arms. "Sleep right, Dusty. Sweet dreams." ----------------- An hour passed by, and Larry and Spinach Can have woken up. They had a good rest, thank goodness. No crying, no screaming. Just good old silence. Larry walked into the kitchen, carrying Spinach Can in his arms. They both looked well rested, not tired or anything. "How did the babysitting go, Dad? Did Dusty eat?" Spinach asked as they walked in. "She ate all right." Steak Guy said, sitting at the kitchen table and reading the newspaper. Bread Boy sat on the table, playing with his spoons on his jars. "The food you gave her was unhealthy, Spinach." "Uh, unhealthy?" Spinach asked, her eyes wide. "How could it be unhealthy? I got it from the store yesterday!" "Well apparently it smelled foul." Steak Guy said. "But luckily Fridge had some fresh baby food, so I fed Dusty that instead." "Is she alright? You didn't POSION her, did you?" Larry asked. Spinach Can glared up at him and elbowed him sharply in the chest, making him shut up. "No, Larry. I wouldn't poison your kid." Steak Guy rolled his eyes at the lamp. Larry nodded gratefully and crossed his arms. "Good thing..." Spinach Can glanced around the kitchen curiously. "Speaking of Dusty, where is she Dad? Is she asleep already?" "Yeah. When I bottle fed her she zonked out fast." The steak laughed at the memory. "It was pretty cute to be honest." "Awww..." Larry and Spinach both said together. "That's adorable." "It sure was!" Fridge said happily. "You guys should've seen it, even though you were asleep. But oh well." "Hey, uh..." Bread Boy spoke up quietly, lowering his spoons. "Next time, c-can I try babysitting Dusty?" Larry smiled and patted Bread Boy's head, making the little guy giggle. "Sure, BB. But just make sure your Dad is there with you, okay? Babysitting Dusty is tough to do." "Okay. I will." Bread Boy nodded, understanding. "I can't wait for it!" --------------------------------- END. :)
