sweet bean: i'm also thinking about how sigyn is probably p unkillable because her life is tied to fabric of existence, and because of that she could probably be a force for great evil if she weren't so Good. but she would never diverge from her path of love and healing. she's so aware of her own strength. she knows what she's capable of and instead of letting power rule her, she rules her power. she creates herself. cosmickels: She's indestructible. Like the only one really who could kill her is Loki bc he's the utangard to her innangard but he wouldn't ever. They'd more likely destroy each other. But they won't. Come ragnarok, sigyn bows to his will until it's time to end, then Loki bows to hers. sweet bean: tbh killing vali and narvi was as much odin's way to trap sigyn as it was his way to punish loki. but just like with all the lokafam, odin set himself up for disaster. cosmickels: Odin was afraid of sigyn. And he thought he'd cornered her. But when you corner sigyn she can just demolish the wall she's been backed into. sweet bean: and i think sigyn (at least mine) doesn't really have future vision exactly (tho she does see potential outcomes where they are predictable), but as things occur in the present she always feels if they are Right or Wrong. so even in her immense grief and disgust after what happened to her family each time (boda's bbys and then her own), sigyn still knows it's part of the cycle. it could have gone another way, but it didn't, and this is the reality she must hold together until it's time for the end. sweet bean: odin was def threatened by sigyn and loki like. they could have ruled if they wanted to, but they didn't. they had their roles and they were comfortable embracing them. it's like the lead in a play feeling threatened by the stage managers because he knows they're the ones who're actually in charge of making sure everything runs the way it's meant to. cosmickels: that's....a really good analogy. and yeah i think that speaks to sigyn's strength. i don't think, after witnessing all she did, if i would be able to pick myself up, get a bowl, and hold it over my husband's head for years and years. i would want to crumble and break. but for her it's kind of, "i can't change what happened, and while i am heartbroken, now is not the time to mourn or rest. other things have now been set in motion with certainty now and i have a job to do." sweet bean: it's kind of like. sigyn knows when to be a nakia and when to be an okoye. only her loyalty is to the vast weight of a universe in constant, necessary cycles. in this case she's okoye, holding true to her purpose and her responsibility as creator and upholder of innangard... until it's time to take a leaf out of nakia's book and do what she must to tear it down (which is, in this case, allowing her husband as creator and upholder of utangard to do so). cosmickels: i don't think there is a figure across all mythos who is as strong as her. cosmickels: i really don't. jimbo's hapt: me, reading this as i wake up: good posts, ops
just some important morning meditations on our lady sigyn. (◡‿◡✿)
