Doctor Who
OH MAN..OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN OK strap in kids
now this is based on new who ok. so when new who came back no one thought it would do that well? relatively low budget but that didn’t matter bc it was a show that was very firmly rooted in the characters and in humanity. in fact, the uncomplicated plot lines etc suited the show even more because it made it more relatable to the people it was trying to represent.
anyway. this isn’t to say davis was perfect bc he wasn’t but shit, man, the show under moffat’s rule is unrecognizable and not in a good way.
and im all for the doctor being the most feared being in the cosmos. sometimes i liked that doctor. i mean the timelord victorious storyline was a shambles but at least it highlighted the affects that travelling and being alone had on him. the affects of someone who had huge amounts of power. ten then was brought down by something very small and very human and by the desire to help one person. bc thats who the doctor is, at the end of the day. he had the potential to be timelord victorious but CHOSE not to.
and now? now he lets innocent people die to prove a theory. now he’s willing to bend time and space to save one person but only if he’s their friend. now he convinces people to put themselves in danger instead of urging them to leave and to live. now he doesn’t, for some reason, understand humanity??? the thing he worked so hard to save and something he loved???
i love nine, i love ten and i love 11 and i think capaldi is doing his best but somewhere along the way the doctor really turned into a monster. ten said we looked like giants and 11 said we were all important but 12 can’t tell a little girl she’s special? he’s a father for gods sake!!!! i don’t trust this new doctor whatsoever. he is so so far from any kind of kindness or empathy its unreal
NOT TO MENTION THE CONVOLUTED PLOTS, THE MANY MANY PARADOXES AND THE COMPANIONS HAVING TO BE MAGICAL BEAUTFUL ALIEN TIME PIXIES????? AND ALL THEIR LIVES BECOME ABOUT HIM? gross ALSO IM SORRY BUT WHY WHY THE FUCK IS IT SO AMERICAN? LIKE STOP PANDERING TO FANS AND CREATING HYPE. THE HYPE WAS THERE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS QUINTIESSENTIAL BRITISH SHOWS THAT HAS EVER BEEN ON TV AND NOW ITS AN AMERICAN ACTION MOVIE????? sorry but not sorry MOFFAT IS SO BUSY BELIEVING HIS OWN HYPE AND TRYING TO SUCK HIS OWN DICK THAT HE CAN’T EVEN WRITE AN EPISODE THAT DOESN’T INVOLVE THE DOCTOR DYING (river kills the doctor, the doctor needs her regenerations, the doctor grows old on christmas, the doctor sends his will bc he’s dying, the doctor comes back as a ghost like jfc WRITE SOMETHING ELSE IS THIS THE ONLY WAY YOU KNOW HOW TO CREATE DRAMA)
AND OK LIKE WE HAVEN’T EVEN TOUCHED ON THE LACK OF REP AND QUEER BAITING LIKE MY GOD like we all know this by now but jesus (if ur going to make clara bi or pan just do ittttt)
and like all these references to old who would be great if it didn’t feel like 1) a last ditch attempt to reel fans back in and 2) proof that moffat can’t write anything original???
its just so boring to me now? like ten could sit in a traffic jam for an hour and it would be great and now its like what is even happening
I literally haven’t seen any of the new series of doctor who and I think I only watched like one teaser of it. tbh it makes me mad. Moffat makes me mad. because I remember when they revived Doctor Who and every Saturday I was so excited, it didn’t matter that the graphics were crap and there were some funny filler episodes that didn’t relate to the main arch, I loved it. Russell T Davis respected women and the set rule of Doctor who. But now - and for the last couple of years - I’m just not excited anymore. I don’t turn over to BBC one and wait for it to start, or call my family to come a watch it with me. It’s just so “meh” now.
“i’m the doctor, just accept it.”
how about you writing things that actually make sense instead of expecting your audience to blindly accept errors and shoddy writing
i just saw a doctor who news story on my facebook feed what kind of middle school shenanigans
Doctor Who Hate List (I just had to write it down)
1. Isn’t Missy dead?
2. Couldn’t he have just got a new screwdriver like what we have seen him do lots of times?
3. So Missy’s okay now? Like there’s no problem with her, she’s a friend now? 4. Dude; seriously?
5. Davros has never brought up this screwdriver thing before, Steven Moffat ruining the legacy of Doctor who?
6. That scene in the bar was basically copied from Star Wars.
7. Who’s this chicken breast faced guy and why is he snakes and what the fuck?
8. Confession dial? Steven Moffat running the legacy of Doctor Who by inventing something completely new and irrelevant.
9. No point to the planes other than to introduce Missy, bad writing!
9.5. Also that old couple could just walk through the square with all those snipers/ agents/ fucking Missy. Come on?
10. Peter Capaldi is great, shame Steven Moffats ruined Doctor Who.
11. Isn’t Davros dead? Didn’t we see him die?
12. That brief moment with David Tennant, reminded me of what i miss.
13. How many times have we had the assistants walked into the White hub teaming with Daleks?
14. We know they’re not dead because this is Doctor Who and no one is ever dead because the writing is shit.
One thing, among a list of many others, that bothers me about the current doctor who and supernatural is their apparent amnesia to anything that has happened before. Writers don't take advantage of characters that already exist, and rather keep creating new ones that also never appear again. The universe is conveniently revamped in the Big Bang Two. And I dislike it. I enjoyed those characters from the past and I want to see them again or at least hear mention of them. They were a part of the characters who are still around and they most definitely had an affect on them. It isn't even that hard, I've seen many other shows accomplish this feat easily, even in just little pieces of dialogue, characters reminiscing about the past. Continuity suffers for lack of acknowledgement of past episodes and seasons.
horriblehistoriesnerd replied to your post:the new series of doctor who just looks so boring...
i just watched the trailer and got so bored i didn’t even finish it. if I can’t even watch the trailer without feeling bored, how am I going to watch full episodes?
the plot just looks like the same old thing. in the past i’ve always kind of assumed a new series will be awful but i’ve continued to watch it and try to enjoy it in the vague hope it might magically get better. but i kind of just don’t care anymore?? i’m sort of watching out of habit at this point!
