1) If you had to pick a single song to fall asleep to every night, which would it be?Do you all know the really sad/uplifting Samwise theme from the Lord of the Rings films by Howard Shore? NO? Let me fix that for you.
2) How do you think time works?
Probably in a linear kind of way? Not to be a total downer (because I am 100% all over time travel if it ever becomes a thing), but people don't often wonder how "north" works, so I don't really wonder how the direction "time" works, either.
3) If you had to become a creature of myth, what would your new form be?
Oh, uh, can I pick like an Aliester-era kind of demon? I would love the structure that offers.
4) Could a highly advanced AI have “humanity” and if not how can we determine what deserves and what doesn’t deserve to be treated as a human being?
I don't think we could ever program humanity; I think the best we could do is recognize a different, but equally valuable, quality of "life" in an advanced AI. In my opinion, any AI capable of choice would be deserving of human respect for those choices.
5) How do you think mankind will face its last days?
Oh, please let it be zombies in space. WAIT. Please let it be the gradual assimilation of humanity into exotic alien DNA?
6) What’s something that you could never forgive someone for?
Maybe "killing someone/thing I love." That would be a dealbreaker like 99% of the time.
7) Do you believe love is unconditional?
No, I don't :(
8) What’s your most beloved possession?
Oh, I have this box of photos and ticket stubs and a little magneto frisby from del taco and the 3D HP glasses (and you get the idea). That, and the cat, are the things I grab as I run from a burning building.
9) Favourite film genre?
Action/Adventure probably? I couldn't pick strictly scifi or fantasy over the other.
10) Who do we lie to the most: others or ourselves?
I think it depends on the person! As an introvert, I am almost always telling lies to myself. I assume extraverted people would be more concerned with lying to other people?
11) Riddle me something!
Oh crap, okay, the only one I know is the eye-color island one:
A group of people with assorted eye colors live on an island. They are all perfect logicians -- if a conclusion can be logically deduced, they will do it instantly. No one knows the color of their eyes. Every night at midnight, a ferry stops at the island. Any islanders who have figured out the color of their own eyes then leave the island, and the rest stay. Everyone can see everyone else at all times and keeps a count of the number of people they see with each eye color (excluding themselves), but they cannot otherwise communicate. Everyone on the island knows all the rules in this paragraph.
On this island there are 100 blue-eyed people, 100 brown-eyed people, and the Guru (she happens to have green eyes). The Guru is allowed to speak once to the island and says, "I can see someone with blue eyes."
Who leaves the island, and when?
And, my questions are:
1) If you could undo one canonical event in any work of fiction, what would you pick?
2) Cats or Dogs or (exotic pet you prefer here)?
3) Are there any personality or intelligence metrics you believe in? If so, tell me what you are! If not, tell me why they're crap!
4) If you met a person who had never read any of the books, played any of the games, or watched any of the movies/shows that you know, what is the one story you would tell them?
5) What did you want to be when you grew up?
6) What is your least favorite quality in another human being?
7) Consider all of the possible effects that your answer in (1) could have on all characters' interactions, futures, lives/deaths, and tell us the absolute worst outcome you could have created. (was it worth it)
8) What do you do when you're stressed out? (Either for relief or as a reflexive, uncontrollable response)
9) Did you have a New Year's Resolution?
10) What's a site that you think is super cool and a lot of people might not know about?
11) Do you have a groundhog day / time travel visitor contingency plan?
hardcoreneurotica , fancy-nancy , discretetopology , song-for-lonely-giants , dwarftosser
(this is how mathematicians count to 11, apparently? tbh, I didn't want to bother most straight-up math blogs with my questions)
