By the time Gaius had arrived to the site of the masquerade, it was clear that it was already well underway. Being who he was, he had decided to work late instead of closing up on the earlier side for the masquerade. He didn’t regret the decision until he saw that most people there were very much preoccupied; dancing, talking to people they clearly knew, eating, teleporting around in Gill’s case. Gaius looked around, adjusting the silver mask on his face, looking for someone familiar.
When he didn’t see anyone immediately, he decided to avoid looking awkward and walk over to one of the tables with drinks. He was on his way there when he bumped shoulders with someone. It was inevitable— the room was rather crowded— yet he still felt bad and turned to apologize.
The woman he had bumped into looked lovely, dressed in purple with pretty blond hair, and the feathers on her mask reminded him of an outfit Evelyn made once. He blinked, remembering why he had turned to her in the first place. “Sorry about that, miss!”
Marian was on her way to the restroom to check her hair and reapply her make up when her shoulder collided with that of man all in gray. She stumbled back a step, and turned to see who had bumped her, ready to apologize. But when she looked at him, the man, who was wearing a very simple, but very shiny mask, was just staring there into space -or, she guessed he was, since his mask shadowed most of his eyes. Either way, he seemed very...spaced out. Just as she meant to say "sorry!" to him, he spit out the apology first. "Oh, it's alright, er..sir." She flashed a hopeful smile at him "It's bound to happen in a place as crowded as this." By the direction he'd been walking, she gathered he must be off to the snack table. "You better hurry over there," she nodded to the food. "I think they're already out of cookies - only have cocktail shrimp left."
