The entire DwD cast, Ritsuka included, goes on a camping trip deep in the woods and later tell the cliched scary stories bit that actually come true when they try and go to sleep. Bonus, Rem gets accused of being the Goatman that was outside of Lindo and Shiki's tent.
“And theysay the ghost haunts this place today, still dragging the lifeless corpse alongwith it through the forest!” Azuna stood above the fire, the flickering flamescasting a dark glow under her chin and shadows dancing through the tall tresssurrounding the party. “Ahem, I hate to ruin your little theatrics but that would hardly be possiblesince-“‘’-Shush Roen! You’re ruining the atmosphere. She was just getting to the goodpart too… where it might happen to us fufu~ ” Shiki hushed Roen quickly in hiseagerness to hear the end of the tale.“As I was saying.” Azuna continued. “If you’re not in your tents before the sungoes behind the trees you had better be careful or there’s a chance you couldfall victim to his ghost too!” The female exorcist jumped up suddenly, creatinga few yelps of surprised terror from her audience. “Ahh that was wonderful! Another! Another!” Shiki applauded, his claps fillingthe silence of the others.“I think that’s enough for one night Shiki” Rem looked over at a slightlyshaken Ritsuka by his side and Urie, whom he had also noticed had inched alittle closer to him during the story.“For once I agree. Let’s all get to bed, it’s late.” The dhamphir yawed, “Ritsukaare you sleeping with Azuna?” His reply was a cheerful “yes!” from the two girls and a few disappointed sighsfrom the rest of the party. As the girls got ready in their tent the boys argued amongst themselves as theysorted out who would sleep with who. The squabble went on for some time untilAzuna and Ritsuka took action and sorted the pairs out themselves. In one tent, there was Urie and Rem, the other there was Mage and Shiki and last of all therewas Roen and Lindo in another. Of course there were protests, mostly from Mageand Shiki, but after a few arguments over pillows and sleeping space the boyssettled into their allocated tents quite quickly. Soon the campers were allsleeping peacefully, only the sounds were of the wind rustling the trees andthe occasional woodland creature treading through the fallen leaves. All waswell and quiet in the camp until…“GHOST!” The cry broke the tranquil silence immediately, sending birds squawkingout of their nests and sleepy campers out of their tents. “What in the hell?” Mage took a quick glance around only tofind a pale Urie pointing towards the dark line of trees surrounding the camp. “Fufu~ if your butterflies could see you now, how humiliating.” Shiki was quiteright, Urie had lost his composure almost entirely at this point and was quitethe opposite of his usual charming self. “What is going on here exactly?” Lindo followed by Roen and the two girls sleepilygot out from their tents.“Butterfly brain here thought he saw a ghost.” Mage grumpily explained, he wasnone too happy after being awoken from his sleep. “I swear it’s true! If you don’t believe me go see for yourself!” Urie beganpushing Mage towards the cluster of trees.“Oi! I’m not going out there!” The blonde devil stayed firmly by the others, hewasn’t taking a step near those trees.“Fufu~ scared are we Mage?” Shiki’s teased, his grin spread widely across hisface.“N-no! Just- Hey, where’s Rem?” Mage looked around, trying not to let anyonesee his slightly pink cheeks.“Avoiding the question now? Fufuf~ you must really be terrified.” The fallenangel’s grin grew even wider than before, oh how fun this will be to tease himwith later.“Be that as it may,” Roen cleared his throat, “he does bring up a good point.Where is Rem?” The party looked around with no Rem in sight.“He’s not in the tent.” Urie announced. “Where could he be?” “Maybe the ghost got him.” Ritsuka thought out loud, not entirely serious. “Or maybe he is the ghost!” Mage joked sarcastically. His reaction wasn’t the laughter he had hoped for. They all stood therethinking solemnly.“C’mon guys, I was joking heh.” Mage tried to bring back the lighter atmospherefrom before.“Of course, of course…just a joke…” Urie said, sounding like hewas convincing himself of that more than anyone else.“This is Rem we’re talking about…he wouldn’t…” “No, no of course not… he’d never…” “…He is quite pale though…”“Oh for Satan’s sake.” Roen practically had to stop himself from face-palming. “He’snot a ghost. It’s entirely impossible. For starters, you can’t see through him.”This statement brought everyone to their senses and they all had to admit itdidn’t make sense for Rem to be a ghost of all things. As the group huddledaround thinking of where Rem could be the loud snap of a twig sent birds cawingup into the night sky. Then the sounds of more twigs were broken, like someone wasdragging something…or rather someone, over the dry leaves of the forest floor.“It’s the ghost!” Urie trembled out a cry of fear clutching onto Mage’s arm.“Get off me! We’ve got powers too, remember? If it’s a fight it wants, then afight it’s gonna get.” Mage readied himself, facing the sound while theothers followed suit. The sound of crunching leaves came closer and closer… now from…behind them? Theyall whirled around and ended up face to face with….“Rem!” Ritsuka ran up to the rather confused devil and gave him a hug. “Wethought you were the ghost!”“….The ghost?” Rem raised one quizzical eyebrow at her exclamation and lookedaround at the rest of the group for an answer. Everyone kept their heads low, not wanting to look him in the eye. It was all theanswer he needed.“Did you seriously think I was that ghost from the story?” “Well you were gone when Urie here thought he saw something in the trees.”Lindo answered, rather embarrassed.“I was gone because I needed the *ahem* toilet, as you’d put it.” Rem replied not wanting to go into detail of his escapade. “Well I still saw something! Though I shouldn’t have expected you lot to notice.”Urie exclaimed indignantly. “Oh shut it butterfly brain.” Mage sent a shrivelling glare towards Urie. “The mysteryis solved. Can we all go to bed now?”The group mumbled their agreements and parted ways to their separate tents. “I’m glad this all is over now.” Ritsuka yawned. “But one thing still bothersme. Didn’t we hear the sounds coming from in front of us? But then Rem came outfrom behind us. Don’t you think that’s a bit strange?” Azuna nodded sleepily, “Maybe he just got lost in the dark or something. Anyway, let’s get some sleep we’ve still got tomorrow to get through.” “Yeah, you’re probably right.” With that the two girls turned off their torchand shut their eyes, drifting off to sleep once more.
A cloakedfigure sat upon tree branch looking over the campsite. His red eyes gleamedbehind a black veil as the lights were once again put out by the campers goingto bed. A smile touched the male’s lips, remembering the looks of terror he hadcaused. “Not so brave are we now? Hmph honestly those devils think they’re so great buta ghost story still made them jump. Pathetic.” With a flick of his coat Jek disappearedinto the night, leaving the campers to their sleep.
