Unless you’re a major sucker for slightly more sophisticated camerawork, then the Bela Lugosi 1931 Dracula film is superior in every other possible way, to its Spanish counterpart. Lugosi himself, Edward Van Sloan as Van Helsing, and Dwight Fry as Renfield, put forth amazing performances, in this almost dreamlike and immortal bridge between the silent and sound eras. Bela is THE best Dracula, bar none. https://retrorevelations.blogspot.com/2020/10/bela-lugosi-ultimate-dracula.html
Bela Lugosi and Dwight Fry (On a side note, Alice Cooper actually went on to do a song that references Dwight Fry, the man that played Renfield….)
Inhuman of The Day
April 19th - Dwight Fry
An Inhuman from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who appeared in the television show, Agents of Shield. Dwight was a new Inhuman who was transformed after exposure to Terrrigen by way of the traces that had made its way into fish oil supplements. The powers this transformation bestowed Dwight were not very impressive and seemed to entail nothing more than breaking out into terrible hives whenever he came into contact with another Inhuman. Dwight was discovered by Lash and assisted in the tracking down of other Inhumans. Dwight was a gifted computer programmer and he used his coding skills to ascertain the whereabouts of various Inhumans (whom Lash would subsequently hunt and kill). Dwight’s activities garnered the attention of Shield and he was apprehended in a joint effort with the ATCU. The groups had hoped to interrogate Dwight so to learn the identity and location of Lash. Before they could, however, Lash intercepted the transport van taking Dwight to the ATCU headquarters. Lash killed Dwight so to silence him and prevent the Inhuman from exposing his secrets. The name ‘Dwight Fry’ is a homage to the 1930’s actor of the same name who portrayed ‘Renfield’ in the Universal Studios production of Dracula. Dwight was portrayed by actor, Chad Lindberg.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D classic horror nod
I don't know if anyone noticed this but on this week's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D that one inhuman who was kind of the helper of the current big bad was named Dwight Frye. This is a deliberate nod to classic horror movie actor Dwight Frye who was known for playing the insane henchmen in classic horror film including Fritz in Frankenstein and most famously Renfield in Dracula (1931). He was a very type cast actor and Alice Cooper even wrote a song about him.

“An Essential CD For Any Music Fan!” Alice Cooper -Ballad Of Dwight Fry
By David Girod
This review is from: Love It to Death (Audio CD)
“Love it to Death” is just a great rock album. You have the major label debut of a truly unique band, with songs that still sound new and original today. You have heard “Eighteen” hundreds of times by now, but if you haven’t heard the entire album, then you are denying yourself a true musical treat. Most of the elements that made the Alice Cooper band such a popular 70’s act are in place here.

Alice is in top form vocally, Glen Buxton and Michael Bruce layer each song with such distinctive guitar work, every track becomes memorable. Neal Smith’s drum work is, as always, the driving force behind these classic songs, and thanks to Dennis Dunaway’s fantastic bass work, you have an album that is a must have for your rock collection. Every song on this disk is great. But the two songs that standout to me on this CD are “Black Juju” and “Ballad of Dwight Fry“. These are the two longest cuts on the disk, and both are so original that only the Alice Cooper band could perform them. If you only discovered Alice later in his solo career, do yourself a favor, and be sure to go back and check out the original bands releases, and be sure to pick “Love it to Death” up right away, you won’t be disappointed. I recommend this album to all Alice Cooper fans, classic rock fans, in fact if you have ears…buy this disk. amzn_assoc_placement = "adunit0"; amzn_assoc_enable_interest_ads = "true"; amzn_assoc_tracking_id = "rocknroll_goulash-20"; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = "auto"; amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart"; amzn_assoc_marketplace = "amazon"; amzn_assoc_region = "US"; amzn_assoc_linkid = "3d51aa49da4aefefc83bb13e8775894f";
