Mr Grinch ‘n’ co. [@dwn015-16]
“What’s this? What’s this?
There’s color everywhere,
There’s white things in the air,
Wake up jack, this isn’t fair!
Diggy shook her head, snorting in laughter and watching from the corner of her eye as her sister bounded from one side of the street to the other, leaning against the display windows of the stores for the briefest moments before dashing away. She pranced, light as a feather, caring little for the cars passing by and the light powdery snow that had started to blanket the ground just a touch. She was singing. Of all the things she could have done upon stepping out and seeing the snow fall, and the christmas lights and everything that screamed “holiday cheer”, she had started singing. And bounding like an excited doe as she did.
If there was anyone that could break into song just because of sheer glee, and because she could, it’d be her sister.
Talk about letting yourself sink into the season’s mood. But then again, it had been a bit her fault. Upon learning her sister had no data on christmas in her database, she had taken it upon herself to let her watch a couple of movies as an improvised crash course of sorts. Now, she was regretting it a tiny bit. But she only had herself to blame.
“Ah’ never shoulda’ showed you these movies!” She hollered back to her sister, currently busy looking at snow globes inside a shop, looking pleased as punch. In a few bouncy strides, her sister had taken place at her side, smiling like a child, and with stars in her eyes. Her gleeful expression however, was replaced by a small pout as she decided to answer her grumbling.
“Well, to be fair, I’m rather glad you did, it was a shame that I didn’t get to know in advance about christmas. I’m so happy I get to experience it for myself! It’s so... nice! Everything is colorful and bright!”
Diggy rolled her eyes a little and sighed, crossing her arms on her chest as she spaced out, staring off as she checked her GPS, and where she was going. They weren’t out JUST to see the lights - though that had been a good motivator, they were here to visit a friend as well. “Yer’ only sayin’ that’ ‘cause it’s the first time ya’ get ta’ see it. It gets a wee old after a while, trust me. ‘specially knowin’ it’s the season where every store tries ta’ sell ALL the merchandise.”
Celerity simply put her hands on her hips, leaning forward and accentuating her pout to show her disapproval. “Well, I insist that it’s delightful! Gift giving is a very nice tradition, and so is decorating everything! I would rather be happy about christmas than pessimistic! AND before you tell me I’ll change my tune in a few years... Wanna’ bet?”
Diggy arched an eyebrow at her sister, looking up from her self-imposed staring off into space. “...Eh, bet taken. We’ll see how it goes - though, later. We’re here.” “Ah, yes, into another of your “arranged play-dates”.” Celerity shrugged a tiny bit, still smiling. She’d gotten used to her sister’s attempts at making her meet new people and, for the most part, she didn’t mind them.
Diggy scoffed audibly, replying semi-irritatedly. “Don’t call ‘em that!” “It IS what they are, though.” Celerity answered with an innocent, matter-of-fact tone that sent her smaller sister throwing her arms into the air before pointing at a robot just across the street, very square-shaped and in shades of red and yellow. “Ah, there he is!”
Heat man, cranky robot extraordinaire, bit of an asshat, but... soft and warm on the inside. As soon as she’d seen him, Celerity, whose mood seemingly couldn’t be dented by anything yet, immediately started bounding towards him, waving at him with a loud, cheerful “Hellooooooooo!”.
However, bounding and skipping on a humid, snow-covered sidewalk is not the ideal idea. As soon as her heel made contact with the floor, her leg went flying forward, sending Celerity to hit the floor, bum first. The lanky speedbot blinked a few times, sitting on the cold, humid ground, a bit surprised, before bursting into airy giggles. “Snow is slippery, duly noted!”
