He arrived early to Herbology; a trait unlike him, but Adrian Burke had been rather different lately.
It was in the back of the greenhouse that he found himself, sitting straight-backed and rigid on a tall workbench, his mind in fifteen places at once. Adrian had always wondered what people meant by racing thoughts. Strangely enough, for a boy who often had many things on his mind and opinions stronger than the toughest Beater, he had long since been able to suppress and repress.
Now, there was a different story to be told.
He’s not doing well, Adrian. We’ll talk if we’re nervous. I’ve found you someone that may be suitable for marriage. You’re cute. Do better.
He cringed visibly and allowed his body to slump forward, resting his head against the edge of the tall table. Adrian had not even noticed that he was no longer alone.
