Chapter 9: A date at last!

Walking down the halls of the Prydonian Academy, ninety six year old Theta Sigma Lungbarrowmas works up the courage to ask his longtime crush Arkytior Oakdown on a date. Most academy cadets are already betrothed at his age, but Theta and Arkytior’s parents want their children to marry for love, rather than for obligation. It’s been a rough week, what with learning what his name means in earth language class(Death God Cemetery Breath) and Ushas teasing him relentlessly for it, while lording over him the fact that her own name means “Goddess of the Dawn”, to his cousins calling him “Snail” and “Worm hole” again and destroying his sketches of Arkytior. But, with some encouragement from Koschei and the Corsair, he’s finally ready to ask her to accompany him to the Otherstide ball. He hopes she’ll say yes!

Though the Gold Guardian of Life and Death has faced many difficult decisions in her eons of existence, never has she had to face one as difficult as the sentence of mortality to her own beloved granddaughter Arkytior, much less her older grandsons. Though her she and her bond-mate, the White Guardian both know that they will see her again, she alone carries the burden of knowing that her sweet granddaughter will only become an Eternal again after the rest of her race is all but a myth; after the Last Great Time War!

After Bad Wolf changed Rose back into an Eternal(and Jack too), Nine dropped Jack off on some pleasure planet and took Rose to Woman Wept to teach her more about her newly regained biology(and perhaps to propose to his precious Arkytior once she finishes regaining her memories of their first life together as the Eternal of Time and her Champion and bond-mate the Other!)
