“I have to be honest…this car is stolen.” - from byungho

The time is a little close to midnight, and the operation isset around one in the morning. Leo planned this night well, until theunfortunate event happened; his car broke down before he could even start it,the smoke around the hood is faintly visible but there, and his caretaker toldhim that he couldn’t take it anywhere, and it will have to stay in the garagefor a few days, weeks even. The reason why he feigns guilty of this action isbecause he forgot to calculate the transportation among the other analysis fora good and planned out strategy to get the people involved in money launderingto put behind bars.

What to do, what the fuck should he do?

The last resort would be contacting his highly influentialfriends—or rather, acquaintances that he managed to meet along the way,whenever he finds himself in the middle of a mischief. It’s a little improbableto put them in this unlikely situation, knowing that he can’t say anything butto vaguely discuss the plan of acting out as if they were vigilantes.

To his surprise, they agreed and it was Byungho who tookpart of the operation, promising him a well-conditioned car, perfect for theoperation and Leo, clearly, is impressed by the sudden turn of events. Althoughthe reason why he was a little skeptical about it is because, he knows them alittle more than he should, and honestly, if other people are in his position,they wouldn’t trust them to take a part of anything as big as this, but Leoneeded to hold onto that thin thread of their possible friendship; this,perhaps, maybe able to determine whether Leo should keep on asking them forhelp or maybe, it’s the last time that he does.

“I’m not going to pin you over that, you did promised a goodcar, and this is—well, good enough.” Even though the thought of stealing doesn’tseem to sit well on his head, he couldn’t help but to ride the car as he placedhis things on the back seat, turning to Byungho to gesture him to startdriving. “We’ll talk about the stealing later, we have an important matter toattend to, and honestly, we’re quite late already.”

He hasn’t known the girl for all that long, doesn’t really know much about her except her name ( Minnie, hard one to forget - very different from the other ‘Minnie’ he knows though ), and that she apparently likes to wear skirts. Usually, he’d say she’s a rather upbeat individual, has a smile on her face and everything.

But today seems different.

Kai is not in the habit of prying into other people’s private affairs, not even with those closest to him. He’s gotten many an accusation of being cold and uncaring because of this in the past; still, he persists in his ways. So when Minnie finds him today, looking more downcast than she has in their previous meetings before, he wonders, but doesn’t ask.

To the girl’s declaration that she would like a hug, Kai doesn’t hesitate to gather her into his arms, wrapping around her smaller frame and rocking them gently from side to side. “There, there. Do you want to just go back for today?”

Public Displays of Melancholy was not something she bothered with. She was more of an internalizer, archiving any and all inconveniences to the back of her mind and letting it fester until it consumes medicated thoughts and turns it into living nightmares. You know, the usual. 

But the search for her brother was exhausting, her visions were getting worse, and most of all she was so tired of having to act like she wasn’t on the brink of insanity. So at the sight of her ice cream toppling over and landing unceremoniously on the cement, no one could blame her for the tears that began to well up. (Admittedly, she shed a few tears but was quick to sober up in case Kai showed up earlier than planned. 

But the sight of his familiar visage made her crave some form of comfort, so she allowed her face to press into his shirt and releases a small whine. 

“Today? More like my birth. Or that one time when I had to go pee but my teacher wouldn’t let me so I peed myself and everyone laughed. Or that other time when...”

Kai doesn’t even look up from the blend of cocoa, sugar, and salt he’s busy whisking together in a small bowl while waiting for the stove to heat up. It’s a dreary evening. The weather has been dismal since late afternoon, pouring down buckets of freezing cold rain from dark clouds that hand so heavy and low they seem to be threatening to smother the entire city. No one who doesn’t absolutely have to go out is setting foot outside their homes tonight.

Deeming the pan hot enough, he pours in the milk and chocolate mixture and starts stirring. Only when the liquid in the saucepan is lump-free and warming up nicely on its own does Kai turn. The whisk he’d been using before is brandished in his free hand as a weapon, small clumps of cocoa and milk still clinging to the loops.

“Don’t eat all of them or you’re not going to have any for the hot chocolate later. And I’m not running out to buy another bag, so unless you want to volunteer sacrificing yourself for that errand, I suggest you put the marshmallows down.” He returns to monitoring the chocolate that’s starting to bubble slightly. “Now, make yourself useful and pass me the mugs will you?”

It really was dreadfully cold outside, and while Yavi loved the rain plenty and thought it was a gift from the heavens, he couldn't help but feel sad by how dark it was outside. He wondered how Ein was faring.

With one last inhale and a satisfyingly long exhale, Yavi heaved himself out of the armchair. The mugs sat on the second shelf of the cabinet and he reached them easily, setting two down next to the other Travler.

"Why is that every time I visit, Soojung's presence seems to be missing?" Not that the Jumper was very loud, but she had a very obvious air about her. Something like a light glare between leaves and tree branches in spring. "Is she always this busy, or does she hate me but doesn't have the heart to tell me?"

“I don’t. Marriage is Jongin’s thing, not mine.” He grumbles a curse when the zipper snags - yet again - not even halfway down. Honestly, who designed this piece of clothing? Kai would like to have a word with the gentleman ( or lady ) responsible and find out what they were thinking when they made the zipper this hard to wiggle out of. “Well it was this or she was threatening to toss my cigarettes again. ‘Sides, figured trying on pants couldn’t be that bad of a deal.” If Kai had known then how very wrong he would be now, he’d have stayed home.

The zipper finally gave and loosened all the way with one last tug. He huffed out a breath, laughing in relief and at the ridiculousness of their current position. “What do you suppose would happen if someone were to walk in on us?” At the moment, Yavi is on his knees, face hovering dangerously close to Kai’s groin, whilst the younger man had his zipper down. Any person who opened the dressing room door - which, conveniently, lacks any form of locking mechanism - would be treated to a rather suggestive sight. “Think Sooj would get jealous if I said I was cheating on her with you?”

Yavi glanced up at the younger male and grinned. If anything, he slipped his hands over Kai's hips and squeezed, playfully of course, before standing and tapped the other under his chin.

"Knowing Soojung, she would encourage it and make it official that we were in a happy three-way relationship. If were someone else, I would hardly mind." And he really wouldn't.

From the moment became acquainted with Kai and Soojung, he had felt nothing but fondness for the young pair. They could have been eccentric and overbearing considering their dynamic and what they did in terms of a career, but all in all, they brought on a comfortability Yavi would have found difficult to seek elsewhere. However, there was already a figure in his life that he held much more fondness and adoration for.

"Unfortunately," Yavi continued as he handed Kai his jeans. "I am already engaged, very much in love, and Soojung would be the first to advocate it. As for everyone else, I'm sure they all need a little fantasy in their life."

He’s not sure what possessed Yavi to let Soojung anywhere near the kitchen, let alone cook anything, and then to actually consume what she’d made… “You had it coming you idiot. There’s a reason I do all the cooking at home.” They’ve been friends long enough the other time-traveler should’ve known better than to chance his digestive system while testing his luck like that.

“What did she feed you anyway? Please don’t tell me it was the fish curry…” Ever since he’d discovered Soojung had a disastrous tendency to mix-and-match spices ( “I keep telling her, you can’t just add more turmeric and saffron to make up for the ginger, it’ll come out too bitter” ), Kai has regretted bringing that recipe home with him from his last job. “Well, look at the bright side, you’re not glued to the toilet at least.“

Yavi laughed, nearly burning his lips with the soup.

"No, but I was yesterday," he said, sipped the broth with care, and hummed happily. "It wasn't fish, that I'm sure. If anything, it seemed like a normal pot of curry. Potatoes, carrots, onions, lime leaves, and fried tofu, I believe. Nothing peculiar..."

Perhaps that was the fault; the curry had looked too normal. "I have a theory," Yavi started again. "That only Soojung's stomach can handle Soojung's cooking."

“C'mon, with anyone else this would be too weird.”

Yavi was tempted to cry; he really was. But that would have required his hands, and right then, his hands were holding up Kai’s pants while the other male tried to free himself from the stuck zipper.

Why you may ask?

Soojung (that sweet, conniving thing of a woman) thought their day was best spent in at a wedding dress and tux boutique. Everything would have been fine if not for the fact that Yavi had been thrusted at with a plethora of slacks for Kai to try on. 

The one Kai had on at the moment was very…fitting. Too much. 

Crying. Yavi still wanted to do that. 

“Pray tell why you agreed to go, because I do remember from our previous conversations that you had no desire for weddings. I was surprised you even stepped foot in a place that caters to it.”

“If I die, you get my fox. So make sure I live through this.”

Yavi looked from the editorial he was skimming over and fixed the male a bemused stare over the computer’s top. “I don’t think she would appreciate being under my “ownership” or you dying for that matter. I told you not to eat the curry, didn’t I? Should have listened.”
