hi! I gave my birbs those little vine ball thingies to play with (like the one that's on the toy you posted earlier) but I've noticed that the dyed ones actually make their beaks slightly coloured after they play with them... I've removed them right away but I was wondering if they're actually birb-safe? I see that you use them too so they can't be that bad...
If the dye easily washes away when plopped in water (or wiped with a damp cloth) it’s a pretty strong indication that they’ve been vegetable dyed, which is bird safe. Concerning factors would be if it didn’t come off or if the colour chipped off, meaning that it had been painted on with what are likely toxic adhesives and chemicals in the dying process.
If in doubt, don’t, research the company, email or call them if they don’t state on their site and ask what they use to dye their products.
