Dyggvi: Do you love me, or am I simply… convenient to you my queen? Hel: I could have anyone down here. Dyggvi: That’s not an answer. Hel: And I chose you, darling. Dyggvi: …Oh.

Little thing about Hel if she was born into a modern setting
I’ve been thinking about Nanna and my interpretation of her story. I imagine that, originally, she had feelings for Höðr, but was arranged to marry Baldr. Over time, she truly did fall in love with Baldr, don’t get me wrong. She deeply cared for him and their son, Forseti. But after Ragnarök, when she was given the choice to join Baldr in the reborn world and move on… she couldn’t.
She was still grieving, and sometimes, people just don’t move on from what they’ve lost. So she remains in Helheim, unable to let go. Eventually, she becomes Hel’s consort, alongside Dyggvi and The Morrígan. The four of them find a comfort in each together. In time, Nanna has a daughter they'd call Grýla, the giantess who later becomes a witch and the fearsome mother of the Yule Lads.
Narfi: Hel, i have a question. Hel: Yes, beloved brother of mine. Narfi: Why do you call Dyggvi “babygirl.”
Dyggvi: I have asked her to stop doing that. Hel: He has not. Narfi: But he’s… a grown man? Hel: He is a dead one and he is mine. That is different.
Dyggvi: I was a respected king once upon a time! Hel: You cried like a little girl when you dropped your crown in the river, back with the living once. Dyggvi: That was once! Hel: You said, and I quote, “I have lost everything.”
Narfi: That doesn’t sound very babygirl of you Dyggvi. Hel: Did you know he also pouts? Dyggvi: I do not pout! Hel: Babygirl, you are pouting right now.
It’s unlikely, but if Dyggvi were Hel’s concubine/husband, would that mean the son who succeeded him in the Yngvi lineage was born of their union?
Congratulations, it's a boy, lady Hel! 🥳✨️
How Morriel revived her name and the mushroom too, I guess! Here I go obsessing over Hel and her family again.. ^v^'
[Location: Gjallarbrú, the glittering bridge to Helheim]
Modgud: "Well, well.. If it isn’t the queen herself, parading around like Helheim’s a garden party."
Hel: *carrying a bundled-up newborn, flanked by her wife Morrigan and husband Dyggvi, with their other weirdly-behaved children in tow* "It is my kingdom. I can parade wherever I like."
Modgud: *eyeing the baby* "You had another one? How many souls do you need?"
Hel: "At least one more than I had yesterday."
Morrigan: *Cooing at the baby* "She has my eyes. And your aura of doom darling.."
Dyggvi: *chiming in* "And my magnificent nose, dont question how we did it."
Modgud: *crossing her arms* “You should name her after me. It’s only fair, my lady..”
Hel: "...Modgud, she’s not dead like us, and she doesn’t hiss at sunlight either."
Modgud: *smirking* "She will eventually. Give her time my queen."
Morrigan: *thinking aloud* "...Actually, Morriel.. It's similar to my name!"
Dyggvi: “Sounds like a mushroom. I like it.”
Hel: *shrugging* “Morriel it is, I shall grant your wish dear old Modgud.”
Modgud: *stunned* “Wait, really?! You’re naming her after me?”
Hel: *starting to walk off, grinning* “No.. I just liked the drama in your face.”
Modgud: *yelling after them*
“YOU NAMED THE CHILD AFTER ME OUT OF SPITE?!”
