Deep underground, hidden away from society’s eye, a group of Celalis gathered in a wide opening, surrounding a stage where a single spot of light shown through a hole in the ceiling, pouring onto a raised stage. A light that was calling to one Celalis in particular.
Rovius. He was a tall, well built male, with a presence that everyone noticed. When he talked, others would stop and listen. When he suggested something, others would chime in. So when he became fed up with the systematic, stagnant way of life, all chances of improving and growing stronger being thwarted by those in charge, it was rather easy to get others on his side.
Hushed murmurs and whispers turned to silence as Rovius calmly walked onto the stage, eyeing everyone as he did so, meeting everyone eyes as he did so. He savoured the silence for a moment before finally speaking.
“Friends, it truly pleased me to see you all here. I’ve asked you here, because I have a question for you all.” He spoke, his deep voice booming across the audience, their eyes focused and ears twitching at the sound of his voice. Rovius began to pace around, to keep their attention.
“This. This has gone on for a while now. Our strive to become more than what we are now. As of now, we’re a small civilisation, a mere speck in the universe. If a meteorite were to destroy our planet, what would be our history? Our legacy?” He halted in his pacing and whirled around, his face twisted into a snarl.
“NOTHING! While other species evolve, create, go beyond what thought possible, we’ve been here doing nothing, leaving nothing to show we were here! History will go on without even knowing who we are! We will be forgotten to ever passing of time!” Just as he sensed the unease that statement caused, he smiled.
“But that is why we’re standing here. We can change that. I know we can. You’ve all shown you have superb ability in all kinds. And if we combine our abilities, we can become more! We can be a race worthy of recognition, one of the smartest, strongest, most resourceful kinds out there!” He declared, grinning as the crowd cheered. That grin then turned back into a frown as he went back to pacing in a circles.
“However, as we know, not all of us here. Some are content with the monotonous way of life and those in charge refuse to let us grow, stuck in their old ways.. No matter what we do, what we say, they don’t shift in their ways.” Rovious’ fur visibly bristled in rage, his tail lashing around violently.
“They say we work to make our future great, they’ve said we’ve prospered and will continue to do so. Is this what they consider great? Prosperous!? Letting my children grow and follow the exact same life and their children doing the same!?” He paused to hear the cries of agreement from the crowd.
“Well, enough is enough! We’ve tried negotiation and showing what we can do, but that has fallen on deaf ears! We have to take action!” Hearing the cries and cheers rise in volume and gusto, he too raised his fist, along with his voice. “AND HEAR ME, WE WILL! WE WILL MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD AND TAKE HOLD OF OUR FUTURE! WE WILL BECOME MORE< AND NOTHING WILL STOP US! SO JOIN ME AND LET’S MAKE US A RACE NO ONE WILL EVER UNDERESTIMATE!!”
