Dylan didn't know where he stood with Daryl, and he hadn't decided if he wanted to. Everything with that guy was just... well, it was weird. Ever since he showed up and they had their meet-scary wherein the other's gift —if we're going to call it that— made both of them feel as though they'd harbored an eternal love for one another despite both only just meeting in that moment, Dylan kept his distance. He didn't escape his miserable life at home just to get trapped into a compulsory romantic relationship with someone he didn't even know.
And yet, something in his soul told him he needed to try. So he did.
It was actually Dylan who orchestrated this little date for them, finding a quite sake bar where they could actually learn more about one another outside the auspices of a mission, or some team-building exercise, or yada yada. If he would be burdened with a love interest he had no real interest in well, loving, the least he could do was give him a chance. Or rather, give them a chance.
"So, uh," he begins, twiddling his thumbs at the table, "you ever try sake? Not gonna lie, wasn't really sure about the idea of wine made from rice at first, but I kinda like it now... don't really drink in general though. I've basically been turned off to just about every vice after living in Atlantic City for so long, so... yeah."
