Back in 1993, I played for the very first time at a little gathering that was then called "The Dylan Party" by those who knew about it. Hosted by my soon-to-be lifetime friends @andyandrenee, who had an encyclopedic repertory of @bobdylan tunes in their fingertips, it was a once-a-year backyard party in the South Bay of Los Angeles where the band set up on the lawn, a water cooler was filled with vodka and cheap juice, and guest musicians would show up to sing and play Dylan from noon 'til the cops came - which was usually around 2am. I met my wife that day. Over the years, the party moved out of the backyard, shedding a series of venues as it grew, until it finally evolved into Dylanfest, a full-blown yearly festival at @torrancearts. This month's festival was to be the 30th anniversary of the event, and just like everything else, of course - it's been cancelled. So it's moving online. Starting tomorrow at 5 Pacific, and spread out over three days, Dylanfest will be livestreamed on Twitter with live-at-home performances by over 40 artists, and it's sure to be full of surprises. Somewhere in the middle of the Friday set, I'll be playing "Tangled Up In Blue." On Saturday, @nashtunes sings "Abandoned Love" (with me on piano). But don't watch just for us - there will be hours of amazing performances!
