The same way that you refer to the Hiligaynon "patis" as "toyo," your "ginataan" is our lugao. There's no one lexeme that dictates what something is. Saying that it's ginataan because people in other language call it ginatan isn't fair to other cultures who refer to it with different terms.
I was raised calling it lugao, and that's what it is to me. You can't just tell a Spanish speaker that what they call a "perro" is a "dog," because to them it's a "perro." Not everyone has lived the same lives as you, so the cultural and lexical differences need to be appreciated.
