Voluntariness looked different and after his own experience, parents were the most likely explanation. He was still holding out the paper, growing a little awkward about the approach. If he left it on his chair by purpose he obviously didn’t want it. Better back off before it gets weird.

It’d been a rough few days, to say the least, and Dean found himself on the rooftop of his family’s mansion on the night of a full moon. It would be romantic, if Dean was in the mood, but right now it just called for the bottle of whiskey in his hand and the cigarette in his other. 

The sound of the window opening caught his attention, but he didn’t turn around. Letting the smoke bellow from his mouth, he sighed, “What?”

Kyle laid on the bed, propped up against his elbow as he looked at the younger man while he was getting dressed. He had called for Denver a couple times before, so he knew what his life was like as an escort. Kyle thought that it wasn’t a way of living. For anyone. He had an arrangement that he thought would work out for the both of them. He’d only need to ask Denver before he would leave, but Kyle just couldn’t form the words. She thought her truth, her secrets, would have rose to the surface by the time this problem arose, but she had been sorely wrong. Here they were, years later from the moment Ingrid had accepted that the woman before her was who she wanted to spend her life with, and still their relationship hadn’t advanced past best friendship.

This wasn’t going how he had anticipated. Every preconceived thought he had gathered throughout the week crumbled like a letter in angry hands the second the lad stepped inside the pub. On impulse, Adam hid his face behind his sweaty palms. It took him another minuet of inhalation and exhalation until the meter of his breathing was steady again, and he remembered: he had blatantly refused to show his face. A headache, for now a subtle tension, was gradually settling in. He shouldn’t have listened to Kaya. The more he glimpsed at his supposed date, the more anguished cries for escape writhed around in his head; his brown eyes widened frantically. There it was, the telltale sign of the dangerous territory he had meandered into without much knowledge.

He could’ve sneaked out of here - no fuss, no tears and all - but after the debacle, Adam needed something soothing that came overpriced and in a bottle. Shooting to his feet, he let his gaze wander until he found somebody menacing enough alone at a table. Given his own poor people skills, his head space became an altar, and he murmured mental supplications that out of all the people, he hadn’t picked out another Rory or, worse yet, a Saoirse.

“Pardon me,” he began, uncertainly, pointing to the unoccupied chair opposite them. “I have two questions: Can I sit here and, if so, can you pretend to know me for the next twenty minutes?”

The meetings had been almost endless that day, and while Karan generally didn’t mind, he was still very grateful that it wasn’t like this on the day to day basis. Running all four organizations out of one building as a sort of hub, Caspian and himself had developed quite the system for getting things done. His friend being the one that dealt with the public and did most of the interacting, Karan was certainly the person behind the scenes. The one to deal with the more fine details and finances which ... was exactly what the man had gone to school for to begin with. 

Only now just coming back to his office just a few spare minutes before the end of the day, Karan smiled just a touch as he saw the seemingly random notes on his desk, the assistant's handwriting one he recognized fairly easily. He liked her, there was no doubt about it ... 

Cleaning up a few things, he left his desk once more, stopping by the woman’s desk with his typically kind smile as he set down a few things she needed him to sign, “Here you are,” his accent coloring his words, glancing towards a couple employees talking about a gathering at the bar closest to them for a few drinks. “Are you going?” he prompted, gesturing towards the small group of people in question.
