Dyslalia
This is an articulatory disorder in which very often, children do not pronounce the sounds clearly or they replace one sound for another e.g. [k] replaced by [t] or [g] is replaced by [d].
hey guys! i made a carrd to help bring awareness to dyslalia, a condition i have! you're free to share this around, i'll appreciate it a lot!
awareness for dyslalia
What exactly is dyslalia?
Im glad you asked, anon!
Dyslalia is a speech disorder that causes difficulty to correctly pronounce words. Examples of this can be:
- Omitting: Zebra -> Zeba
- Substituting: Walk -> Wawk
- Adding: Newspaper -> Newsplaper

Yeah sure thing!
[ID: the following written in purple bubble letters: 1) dyslalia episode, 2) dyslalia. /End ID]
alright, I've been meaning to do this for a while now, so here goes nothing
i got diagnosed with dyslalia at 11, but my parents only revealed that to me at 14, when I'd already left my speech therapist and was, supposedly, "treated". I had no contact with her and was denied access to any useful information about my diagnosis and treatment, and this only became worse when I noticed I wasn't even treated. In fact, it became worse.
my dyslalia now affects my day-to-day severely, to the point I've started to develop symptoms of other speech conditions, like stuttering, and my reading comprehension has decreased as well, with no other possible explanation. communication is vital for people, and I can't do it effectively without taking five minutes on a sentence or getting mocked.
and worse of all, i have no one to talk about this with, because despite being extremely common, dyslalia is an often overlooked condition, which deprives many people from necessary treatment and support- which I've witnessed before.
that's what I want to help fix, i want to spread awareness to dyslalia so people are aware of it, and can seek help or support their friends or family. maybe someone will decide to make a good character that has it, or finally speak up about their struggles, or do research- anything. maybe none of this will happen but one person will see this and decide to leave an ask and talk about their experiences, who knows.
my starting plan is to collect good, non-ableist resources that include teens and adults with the conditions, diagnostic criteria and basic statistics, to help cover some bases. I'll either make a carrd or a masterpost or both, who knows, but I need help collecting that information. I've found some useful things but it's still scarce.
so, I'm leaving my ask box open to anyone who's curious about dyslalia to ask any, good faith question, and etc. I'm tired of living like I'm a comic relief character or a mockery.
I have a small follower count but it's worth a shot, right? It's worth to try
Thank you for reading and have a good day
