Been trying to finish 'The Selection' since last night, I got attracted by the beautiful cover with the pretty white girl in a beautiful dress. Now it's 8 am, and I just can't. Finish it, I mean. It's way too horrible. The plot moves in an appallingly slow manner which will bore you to death, has too many similarities with The Hunger Games for me to stand it for long, has flimsy characters, and pretty much boring. And also America Singer, who is a singer by profession by the way, is in an unhealthy clandestine relationship with this creepy Edward Cullen-ish dude, who apparently breaks up with her and tells her to go marry this Prince Dude so that she might have a better life. I don't know why, but this guy gives me the jitters.
Despite my ten thousand attempts to finish the book, hoping that perhaps at the end it won't be so bad at all, I got stuck at chapter ten and if I read anymore I will die.
The book is an incredible bore. It's kinda like the author just combined THG and shiz like Rakhi's Swayamvar (or The Bachelor if you may) and a very bad parody comes out that is 'The Selection'. Yay!
But seriously folks, I think I'd rather eat glass than read this book. I thought at first that it was a stand alone novel, but dear God NO, there's a sequel coming out.
Read it if ... I dunno, you're a sadist or something, which is what I felt when I forced myself to chapter five. Or if you're twelve.
