Sickened by the hate in this world...
Seems like the idea of being innocent until proven guilty no longer exists in this country. Where are the freedom and the rights that we grow up hearing about? I'm reading page after page and tweet after tweet of hate in response to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (Jahar). Comments like "rot in hell," and "Islamic terrorist," are very common responses. It absolutely sickens me. This is a 19 year old boy who, just weeks before being arrested, was tweeting about his future course of study, hamburgers, TV shows and pretty much all the regular stuff a 19 year old guy would tweet about. Fast forward a few weeks, and he is arrested as a SUSPECT in a horrific bombing in Boston. His brother is killed in the process of being arrested and the city has a hard time finding a place to bury him. There is such a ruckus raised by cemeteries refusing to accept his body for burial. When did we become savages in this country? We don't even bury our dead anymore? Bodies of Timothy McVeigh and even the Sandy Hook shooter who killed 20 innocent children, were accepted by cemeteries and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was only a SUSPECT at the time of death, didn't have a place to be buried? I did read today that someone came forth and finally laid the body to rest. Kudos to whoever stepped up and took charge. Seems the rest of the country had gone to savages meanwhile. Jahar is sitting in a prison cell where he is apparently in solitary confinement for 23 hours of the day. For five minutes, just imagine that he is innocent. Just do it. Look at what he has had to see and deal with in the past few weeks as a 19 year old kid. I GET that he is a suspect in a horrific case and I get that there is a trial up ahead but there is no need to crucify this kid over a crime that he has yet to be convicted of. All the hate being spewed at his family and the name calling is unnecessary. People even hate on the people that support the idea that maybe Jahar is innocent. If you have a right to think that he is guilty, then you need to understand that other people can have the right to think that he is innocent and fight for that. Unless you witnessed firsthand that he placed that bag there which blew up then you can not go around saying he is absolutely guilty. In this country, from what I've learned all my life, you are innocent unless proven guilty without a reasonable doubt. If you sit there and accuse this kid without proof, then you are going against the foundation of this country. Wake up America. CNN gave conflicting stories through the night as the whole fiasco with the Tsarnaev brothers' arrest was going on. I was up the whole night, glued to the TV, watching and continuing to be baffled by the constant contradictions in the news. If you can honestly sit there and say that you know for a fact that this kid is guilty because you have some kind of 6th sense or proof, then share it. If your heart says he is guilty, that is fine. You are entitled to that. However, that does not give you the right to hate on those who believe he is innocent. Me? I don't think he did it. My heart says no and the lack of evidence strengthens that conviction. Jahar didn't do this and I pray that justice is served and this kid gets his life back. For the record, I'm no "fangirl." There are people that are following this case and actually believe in his innocence.
