An open-source, dual-screen e-reader
Diptyx E-Reader is an ESP32-based, open-source e-reader. Its unique dual-screen design allows it to close like a book, protecting the screens without requiring a case, making it perfect for reading on the go. Automatic standby mode and e-ink displays enable the device to run for weeks on a single charge, while it powers up in seconds with the press of a button. Fully open-source, Diptyx E-Reader is easy to repair and customize, letting you read whenever and wherever you want, forever.
Own Your Device, Own Your Books
Diptyx E-Reader runs on custom, open-source firmware designed specifically for reading ebooks. Simply upload your digital books as EPUB files through the USB Type-C connector, and start reading.
It features no DRM, allowing you to read books from any digital bookstore, as long as they are in EPUB format. That enables full offline use anywhere you go: no internet connection, accounts, or cloud services are required.

ok i posted this on my instagram and got no responses- i guess my irls don't read- but can anyone here recommend a non-kindle e-reader? i'm giving my mom my kindle paperwhite for her birthday because i'm sick of amazon's shit, but i'd still like an e-ink display to work with, since regular screens just don't cut it for me.
i'm looking at the kobo libra color vs something from boox. I'm super torn and I'd love some advice. if it helps, i primarily read fiction epubs. color isn't a dealbreaker option for me since i tend to just use my ipad for colorful/heavier pdfs and comics. really hate reading dense text on the ipad though (and my ipad case is bulky as all hell and not waterproof enough to take to the pool), hence my desire for an e-ink screen.
