Dolores: Duh, doesn’t everybody?
Bruno: I don’t
Mirabel: Not everyone is bi like us, Dolores--wait.

anyway you cannot convince me that if Isabela had ever actually had the courage to go up to her Abuela and be like “Hey, I actually don’t love Mariano and don’t really want to marry him” that Alma “still pinning for her dead husband after 50 years” Madrigal would have forced her to go through with it.
the Mariano and Isabela thing was really destined to be bad on all fronts huh? Really the best thing for both of them that didn’t work out. Isabela gets to move forward and focus on discovering herself in ways she previously felt unable to, while Mariano the hopeless romantic gets to experience a relationship where the other person is also into him back.
Like I doubt during their courtship Isabela was like, rude to him, but I’m fairly confident she would have played into the “I am the perfect flower and all gifts shall be showered upon me” persona in order to best hide the fact she wasn’t into him. Imagine Senior “I have so much love inside” when Dolores bakes him a cake as a surprise or gives him an incredibly thoughtful birthday gift or idly kisses his cheek and tell him she loves him and he’s just “oh, OH” as he realizes relationships can be reciprocal and not just the dashing man wooing the pretty girl.
