“I knew I’d somehow find you over here.” Nate saw Brooks, large grin pulled at his face as he managed to give a short grin towards his friend. “How are things hanging?” He knew he had a lot of shit going on in both of their lives, and with the potluck, it seemed like the best place to get drunk for free. “I mean, I know I’m not drunk enough to talk to you entirely yet, but really, who cares. My life seems to have some sort of organization to it again. Things might be looking up for me.”

The Easter potluck was never supposed to illicit so many raw emotions in the young woman. However, with tensions already on the rise, Sofia found herself excusing herself from a conversation to head to the bathroom, hoping to get away from the masses before she shed a tear. While her emotions had recently taken control, she tried her best to stay composed so as to not let anyone see her, but tears managed to break through as thoughts of her argument with Brooks and the rest of the evening remained prominent in her mind. Stopping in her tracks just before she reached the door, she covered her face to try and regroup. Taking a few deep breaths so as to calm herself down, Sofia bit the insides of her cheeks to keep herself from crying anymore, though nothing seemed to work.
