“There are those parts wherever you go.” Rita countered, knowing how life could be so unfair to some people “Especially as the class system in the United States is unfair to the lower class at the best of times. But this isn’t a civics lesson.” She caught herself before starting to ramble about something he probably didn’t care about. “What about you. Are there any places you’ve always wanted to go? There are plenty of quiet places to travel to in the world.”

“Oh, I’m sure there are.” Henley nodded back, not really caring about the topic conversation, but trying to sound interested for the sake of keeping movement between them. “No, it’s not a civics lesson, but it still affects all of us. There’s a class divide between people, and sometimes it’s more apparent than other times.” He offered. “There are, yeah. But...something about Rosendale pulled me here, you know?” He started, as if he were trying to get at something more. “I’ve heard a lot of things about this place.”

“I never said I didn’t like it.” They both knew she couldn’t deny that. It had been exciting, fun even. She’d consider doing it again, but not in the same way as before. Kendall just stared as he looked over her body, remembering just how much she had loved that back in the day. But, just as she said before, she wasn’t the same person. Henley threatening her wasn’t going to make her go back either. “Just because you get turned on by having a power trip, doesn’t mean you should actually have power.” Kendall crossed her arms, not standing down as he came closer to her. “Good, make me an example. I’m a good indication of how the institute doesn’t have to break people, how they don’t have to hate their existence, and actually live a normal life.”

“Oh, I know.” Henley muttered, a soft grin pulling at his lips, a devilish smile was all he knew when he was around Kendall. It seemed like he only knew how to act a certain way when he was around her. Still, she had made him feel things that nobody else had. His brows lifted as he shook his head. “You would know how to give me a power trip.” He winked at her. “But, power is really the only true form of control Kendall. I thought you liked that aspect; Me controlling you.” He added easily with his look in her direction. “That’s unfortunately not what I’m after this time. I’m looking for soldiers now. I’m looking to break people in and give me the reigns.”

Rita gently put her hands on the table, looking at Henley as he sat down across from her, not paying any heed to the rest of the restaurant “It’s probably just hollywood magic but it always looks so glamorous. I’m sure it’s nothing like that in real life but it’s fun to dream.” It was funny, with her ability she could essentially see anywhere in the world from the comfort of her home, but it was different  in person. “I suppose I’ll stick with the quiet life, though. At least for now.”

“Well, there are parts that are glamorous, I suppose. But there are also the very poor parts of the state too, especially in the bigger cities like L.A. and San Diego.” Henley stated as he folded his arms across the table. “It is fun to dream about though. So, I wouldn’t let that discourage you from visiting if you ever get the chance.” Henley replied with a short grin. “Quiet is a completely different ball game. I, personally, enjoy the quiet small town life so far. It’s all just so relaxing. No major deadlines, no rushing around to get places. It’s all just...here.”

The sensual exploration didn’t stop at the front door, and with Avery’s lithe touch at his zipper, he could feel himself twitching under the denim. “Fuck.” He muttered happily and easily, nearly groaning in exhaustion, the teasing being something he missed. As he carried her inside, he kicked the door close and finally dropped her on the back of the couch, running his hands up her thighs to steady her as he could feel her heat intensify. He slipped off his jacket, and then held her face in his hands as he kissed her passionately. He pants became more restrictive, and he needed to be inside of her. Acting quickly, Henley picked her up once more to bring her into his bedroom, laying her on his bed and pinning her down. Spotting an empty and relatively clean table, Rita moved forward, wiping away some crumbs before sitting down, as elegantly as you’d expect someone like her to, gentle lifting of the skirt, sliding in, like she was from some movie or something. “I’ve never really heard of someone getting tired of California, only hearing of people moving there. I hope to go one day. I suppose it is quite nice and quiet here. A lot less people for sure.”

Henley took a seat at the table across from the woman, before folding his arms over the tabletop. Glancing around, he nodded at the environment that seemed to surround them, the hustle and bustle of the interior, a short small reminiscent pluck of a smile pulling at his lips. “You’re hoping to go to California? What for?” Henley questioned. “It can get much busier than you’d probably think. I thought it was time to slow down my own life.”

Avery hummed as he grabbed at her ass, letting out a small squeak of surprise as he lifted her up. She wrapped her legs around him, giggling as she attached herself to him. “Yours,” she stated simply. “My roommate could be home.” The last thing she wanted to worry about was Mia being home and witnessing any part of this. She wanted to enjoy being with Henley, and to not overthink any part of this.

Henley chuckled lightly at her noises, playing deeper into that and seeing the true effect he had on her. Nodding slowly at her words, he carried her and let their torsos collide with each other before he started his trek out of the place. “My place it is.” He muttered, giving her a look, before kissing back at her. She was relatively small, so Henley had no problem carrying her under her thighs down the sidewalk, watching for obstacles, and his place was pretty close down the street from the public spot that had bumped into each other.

As Henley got to his apartment, he pushed Avery against the wall, holding her there as he dug around for his keys to let them inside. Still, Henley was turned on, as he pressed up against the young woman, a heat throbbing between them as he held her up before finally carrying her inside.

“Is that supposed to scare me? I’m not one of those mutants that are terrified of what you’ll do to me.” She was more worried how this would effect the relationships she had made here, rather than any threat of experimentation he could make. “You’ll get caught up in being away too, having power over people. Seems like you’re already letting it all go to your head,” she shrugged. “You’ll probably fuck it up sooner rather than later.” Kendall scoffed, “No, I won’t. I’m not the same person from when we first met.”

“Oh, I know. I think you always liked the idea of experimentation.” He recoiled with a bit of lip, his glance grazing over her as if he were undressing her with his eyes. He knew their past, more specifically hers intertwined with his, and how thrilling that was for him. “Oh honey, I was made to be in control. I think you and I both know that.” He licked his lips slightly as he inched closer to her, an slight anger pulsing within him as she seemed to taunt him. “I will break you in Kendall. Don’t test me.” He tried after a moment. “You will be made into an example.”

“I suppose they might be. I’m not really the one to be the judge of that, I’ve only spent a small portion of my life in the states.” Rita followed him in, looking around for a free table. “You know, I’ve never really thought about why here. I just sort of… Ended up here. What about you though?”

“Well, they typically are, at least to my knowledge. They’re just quaint enough, but familiar enough.” He shrugged away, seeing the simplicity in the conversation. “Just ended up here, huh?” That seemed to be a recurring theme for a lot of people, and he could only imagine why as he had his suspicions. “I wanted to get out of California, but I didn’t want to give up the west coast. So, here I am. Plus, it’s so much more quiet and peaceful here. I love the natural vibe.”

Her fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck, the smile still on her face as he whispered in her ear. She could say the same about him, this day taking a completely different turn than Avery expected this morning. Maybe this was what Mia was talking about, going with the flow and not overthinking the situation. Avery’s body was responding to his touch in all the right ways, and stopping that now would surely impact her day negatively. She kissed along his jawline, speaking softly as she got near his ear. “Let’s get out of here.”

“I’d like that.” He whispered back, giving her a short grin, letting his hands wrap around her ass, pulling her in close, before easily sliding his hands further down the back of her thighs and easily picking her up in one fell swoop. “Your place or mine sweet thing?” This was almost too easy, and before long, Henley knew that with this infiltration, it would be hard for her to get out of anything. In fact, he was positive he’d be able to get information out of her despite barely knowing her. He had to play the field to get the best results though, and Avery was his best shot.

He had seemed interesting before, especially with how fascinating the institution could be. She didn’t regret going there, but Kendall did regret ever having associated herself with him. “Wow, I don’t know how I got so lucky.” Sarcasm was dripping from every word, if she couldn’t get out of this, she wasn’t about to make it easy for him either. “You want some pointers? Because intruding doesn’t make it seem like you know what you’re doing.”

Henley was really enjoying his time in Rosendale already, and with Kendall in his sights, he really wanted to get his grip around her the most again. “You should consider yourself lucky Kendall. There’s a lot of things that could have happened to you by now. You have no idea.” He revealed slowly. “I’ve got my own methods, thanks.” He courted back sarcastically as well. “And I’ve got backing too, so do whatever you’d like, there’s no slipping your way out of this. I don’t care which way you bend, you’ll be wrapped tightly around my finger before you even realize it.”

This was going better than she could have ever hoped, wondering how it had even gotten this far in the first place. All day, though, she hadn’t been able to tell a lie. The egg coming to mind again, maybe it had meant the words literally. Any time she would have been upset to only tell people the truth, not that she lied often, she was just more abrasive than she normally would be. Avery had no reason to complain, though, with how close she was standing to Henley. “I don’t see that happening any time soon.” She smirked, his touch leaving trails along her body in all the right places. Avery hadn’t felt this way in a long time, no one having gotten this far recently. “This celebration doesn’t have to end.”

He couldn’t help but try to manipulate her in anyway possible, and with her little reveal, he realized that this was going to be much easier than he initially intended and expected it to be. He was going to be able to stave her in only the worst possible ways, but not before he got to know a little bit more about her. Today must have been his lucky day. “Oh, definitely not. If I get to spend some time with you, I know I’ll have a good day.” He muttered softly into her ear as he leaned closer into her, their bodies seemingly pressing into each other. “We can take it somewhere else, if you’d like.”

“I would suppose most people don’t crave it off the bat. I’ve only eaten at the diners here a few times since I’ve arrived.” She responded, looking up at the bright awning as they approached the diner. “Well, I suppose on one hand I have taken to the town, on the other hand I don’t have many other places to go and I’d rather not move again.”

“Well, I can’t say I haven’t craved it. Diners are a staple of any small town, USA.” Henley retorted before heading inside the place, falling into a more carefree attitude than ever before. “Moving’s a bitch. I understand. Why Rosendale though? If you had no other places to go, what got you here?”

“I’d have to say it would be a shorter amount of time if you haven’t spotted some diners yet.” Rita laughed a bit, still conservative but a laugh nonetheless. Walking about with him she folded her arms around her back, looking in his direction “I moved here over a year ago now, it’s been quite lovely. The pacific northwest is quite different from what I grew up with.”

“Guess I haven’t been in the mood for a good greasy diner since I got here.” Henley offered with another shrug as he looked at her while walking forward. He had been preoccupied with a lot of other things, but he could never resist a blue plate special. “How nice.” He added. “So, it seems like you’ve taken to the town quite a bit if you’ve decided to stay for a year.”

Her jaw tightened for a moment, trying to keep somewhat of a level head with him. Why had she thought his would be easy? Clearly, he had other plans, ones Kendall had no interest being a part of. “I don’t know. You’ve always been pretty easy, thought maybe you’d be the same with this.” Her eyes rolling with a sigh. “Fine, what do you want with me, then?”

Henley always did enjoy fucking around with Kendall, along with other things as well, but he promised he wouldn’t get attached this time. That included her too. Still, he was intrigued with how she had managed to blend so well around here. “Only easy with you. And I think we both made that pretty apparent.” Henley’s grin grew eagerly. “I don’t want anything with you. Not yet at least. You seem to have found stability here. I don’t want to ruin all your fun. Maybe just intrude on it a little bit.”

All of the fears she had about him not liking her melted away as she felt his hands around her waist. If the only thing she got out of this was a hook up, she’d be okay with a kiss like that. As long as if it happened more than once. Maybe Pearl had been right all along about not getting attached. Avery pulled back slightly, keeping her body close to his as she grinned up at him. “You’re just very lucky.” She teased, “I’m having a good week. A small celebratory moment was needed.”

Henley grinned back down at the young woman, noticing the sparkle that seemed to be in her eyes. There was something there, something that he wanted to take advantage of entirely. He would use her for his own gain and purpose, especially seeing that she seemed so into him, which frankly was kind of a part of the plan all along. It was in that moment he remembered the bet with Aaron in not getting attached, and he knew he needed to remain loyal. “I’ll say. Hopefully my luck doesn’t run out anytime soon.” He winked down at her, letting his arms wrap around her still to keep her close while letting her know he only wanted to explore her with his wandering hands running down her back and over her curves. “Well, remind me to celebrate with you more often.”
