Hui was initially impressed by E’Dawn’s brutal skills,
and gave him a position in the gang after he watched E’Dawn crack someone not even Hui himself could get to.
E’Dawn was a high school drop out,
never cared out grades or the petty drama
he was an outcast
and he always carried around so much anger,
mainly directed at his deadbeat, boarder-line abusive dad
So when he dropped out, he moved out of his house, too
Homeless, he knew exactly where he was going;
E’Dawn had heard rumors of the Seoul mafia before, knew how powerful they were,
how well off and comfortable their lives were,
and that’s exactly what he wanted.
E’Dawn is ruthless, and that’s exactly what kind of member Hui needed:
someone who would go to an lengths to get the information he needed for his boss
In return for his services, E’Dawn’s life went from rags to lavish riches.
He was having the time of his life,
beating enemies to a bloody pulp until they coughed up their confessions.
And then he met Hyuna.
He’d split his knuckles pretty badly after a particularly long interrogation session with a rival gang member who’d stolen quite a hefty amount of cocaine from Yanan and hidden it
so Hui had directed him to the uptown urgent care in Hongdae to get stitched up
Supposedly Hui had a contact there that helped out whenever a member of the mafia was hurt
what E’Dawn didn’t expect was that the contact was a girl
The Most Beautiful Girl He’d Ever Seen.
She stitched him up quickly and sent him on his way
and ever since that day,
he’d been finding all sorts of reasons to get hurt
Hell, he’d even gone to see Hyuna for a “headache” once.
Basically, the moment he’d laid eyes on the doctor,
he knew she was the one for him
and he’d do absolutely anything to get her
And somehow, amidst all of his ‘injuries’, E’Dawn had been able to charm Hyuna
They’d fallen in love, hard and fast
E’Dawn had tried to keep it a secret for so long;
having loved ones was one of the biggest weaknesses a person could have in the mafia.
But, Hui figured it out pretty fast,
and tried to warn E’Dawn away from the relationship:
it wasn’t safe for Hyuna to be so closely involved with someone from the mafia
especially someone as dangerous, and with as many enemies, as E’Dawn had acquired.
If someone ever wanted to come after E’Dawn, they’d come for Hyuna
and the two of them new that; they knew the risks
But they couldn’t deny the way they felt
And E’Dawn knew he’d do absolutely ANYTHING to protect his girl
He’d kill any number of people for her
He’d die himself, if it meant keeping her out of harm’s way.
So they carried on that way:
The Interrogator and the Doctor.
E’Dawn tried to keep his ‘work’ life away from Hyuna as much as possible;
she knew what he did, but he wanted to keep her from knowing exactly what he did to people as much as possible
He was a monster
He’d beaten people until past the point of recognizability
He’d tortured people in the most brutal ways possible for information for Hui,
and he’d never felt a thing.
Not remorse, nothing. He didn’t feel anything
But Hyuna,
Hyuna made him feel.
And so,
despite the dangers and the horrors of being with someone in the mafia,
all of which he expressed explicitly to her,
E’Dawn stayed, and so did Hyuna;
they would never leave each other’s sides, no matter what the mafia life threw at them
