As a bonus, here's also an accompanying document going over the history of the E-Series.
A look at Dr. Eggman’s E-series
Who would have thought Tyson Hesse had drawn Mighty and Ray before they returned in Sonic Mania? I really love that this is how they show up before the Freedom Fighters, and how Ray doesn’t stutter as much and Mighty faintly shown in the panels before he tosses that E-100 bot!
Sonic and Mighty’s bro rivalry is honestly pretty wholesome. And again, I CHERISH their outfits here! Its just enough to make their character designs stick out.

1/35 E-100. (WIP)
Hull by Trumpeter, from Amazon: ~40€
Turret by Rhino, bought at AlleyCatModels: ~25€
Metal tracks (not pictured) by Friulmodel, bought from their website: ~35€
Cutting my finger, gluing my hand, shattering my knife and the turret floor, taking 4 hours to assemble 10 track links: priceless
E-100, source unknown.
One of the first things you might notice is that this issue was pencilled by a one Tyson Hesse, who would later go on to draw the Sonic Mega Drive special and the animated Sonic Mania Adventures! I think this was one of his earliest contributions to the comics, so his style isn't quite as defined yet. Still, characters often have his signature grin and he's very good with eye expressions.
Also, if you thought the train story was the last we'd see of the E-100 series robots, then I guess you'd be surprised as I was that Eggman decided to make a Gamma-like dog. And I thought E-107 had the most extensive remodelling...
On the Freedom Fighter side of things, they’re having a strategic battle with a trio of E-100 robots. Sally has to coordinate her team to attack, while the E-100 robots try to counter them with their own strategies and guarding their flanks. Its both parts dire for the Freedom Fighters and interesting to see the two teams smartly figure out the best way to confront each other.
In case anyone thought this Freedom Fighter/Super Badnik confrontation goes nowhere, the Tails Doll of all things is sent into their headquarters during the scuffle
