Your friend won't see the price of the gift, but they can choose a different size, color or style. They can even swap it for another similarly priced gift before it ships.
Interesting choices around the interaction design here. Feels to me that being notified that you're going to receive a gift before actually receiving it (and having the chance to swap it) takes some of the joy out of it.
Receiving a gift in the post should be a surprise, not an expectation.
