Ask a stylist: Jennifer Hudson's LBD
Hey there Lovelies,
I hope you're all doing well and staying warm. Please excuse my sporadic posts on the blog as of late as I have been dealing with the tragic loss of a beloved family member. I am still in the grieving/healing process but as they say "fashion never sleeps so neither do we". I am overwhelmed by all your condolences messages and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind words of encouragement.
Speaking of inbox, Camille e-mailed me for a fashion query: "I am on a serious hunt for the perfect holiday cocktail dress with a little bit of see-through. I saw Jennifer Hudson in the cutest one! Any idea who is it from or where I can find something similar? Thanks a lot!”
The singer and Black Nativity star went for a 1,290$ Fall 2013 Yigal Azrouël Bi Stretch Tech Dress to the NYC premiere screening.
The LBD boasts mesh fabric inserts and an up-to-there slit.
Here's her sheath modeled on the runway:
You can recreate the sheer effect with this $448.00CAN Jillea embroidered cutout faux-leather BCBGMAXAZRIA number:
or get on one of these frocks for a steal:
IRO Black mesh-trimmed Derova dress
Keepsake Lone Ranger Long Sleeve Dress in Black
LongSleeve Illusion Dotted Mesh Dress
Hope it helps! I'll be waiting for a selfie with your new purchase!
xoxo, Deb

Based on the number of responses, we will move to the next step of planning the Summer Book Club:
Please e-mail your book suggestions to positivelypt at gmail dot com
If you reblog or reply with a suggestion or put them in an ask message, it is likely I will miss them.
The suggestions must be education-related (stories, lesson ideas, history, etc.) and not grade or content-specific. Ie: not "How To Teach Biochemistry to 12th Graders in Gifted Programs"
I will take all of the suggestions e-mailed to me, and put them in a google doc for voting. Then we will vote again on the top 2 or 3 selections (depending on how close it is).
If you're curious as to how it worked last time, you can view some of the discussions from last summer here.
