26. They have an argument with their partner—what is it about? Do things stay respectful, or is there some shouting and accusing going on?
More often than not, there is some shouting going on. Both of them are very stubborn, prideful people who will not acknowledge when or if they are in the wrong, and Gaspard has a temper. The arguments are loud and often felt by the household, but they do try to be a little less so if the children are nearby.
The first major one they had was when Eugénie was still his mistress and Gaspard asked her to move into the palace. She refused to become more accessible for him at such a cost to her personal reputation, and thought he respected her enough to not ask that of her. Gaspard does not take the refusal well, the relationship ends. Obviously they get back together but like....... not without some begging. Other arguments have included his health (his drinking, smoking etc), her jealousies, the household budgets, stubbornness over conflicting schedules. The worst one was over her abortion, not long after their eldest was born - but that was less because she got one but more because she didn't tell him.
27. They have to apologize to their partner. Is this difficult for them? How do they approach it?
Apologies for two prideful people are difficult, both accepting them and giving them. Eugénie is more yielding because she recognises her position does rely on her husband's good will and continued affection, but she does make him work for it still. A little bit of begging and some honeyed words has to come with the apology from him. Her own apologies are similar - appealing to his wounded ego often makes it seem so much sweeter. And, I'm going to be honest, they also just tend to fuck it out more often than not - it's a far easier language for them than admitting they might be wrong.
35. Would they get a pet? What kind? Who brings up the idea, and who takes a little longer to convince?
They do not have pets in the typical sense. They have a lot of hunting hounds and several horses between their respective households and, based off a tidbit from one of the comics, that Gaspard wouldn't see them as pets*. Eugénie is more fond of her animals - specifically her silver palfrey she took as part of her demands from the Duke of Alyons (who she called Victoire. Rub it in why don't you), and the two borzoi (Aymeri and Enide, @suntamer suggested those names) Gaspard gave her both as an apology and a sign of respect for her skill as a hunter - but they're still primarily seen more for their utility rather than their companionship.
And while their kids could have pets from among the Chalons and Serault kennels, both of them are very clear with their children that the dogs have their purpose and they shouldn't be pets. ... I say as if Eugénie's two borzoi weren't considered beloved family pets by the kids.
(*Ser Aaron Hawthorne's horse is an Orlesian courser that used to belong to Gaspard called Cassé - Orlesian/French for broken. Gaspard believed the horse to be exactly that for being combat-avoidant and would have put the horse down if it hadn't been for Aaron's intervention, so I don't necessarily see him as a guy who would have pets.)
