Song Review: The Sam Grisman Project - “E.M.D.”
Sam Grisman and his eponymous Project saved room for rock ‘n’ roll and country music at the 2024 Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival.
The clipped chords of bluegrass, the swing of early country and the aggressiveness of modern rock twist themselves into something uniquely SGP on this version of David Grisman’s “E.M.D.”
Playing electric, four-string bass and accompanied by his bandmates on drums, mandolin, fiddle and electric guitar, David’s son Sam transforms Pop’s bluegrass instrumental “E.M.D.” into a hybrid of genres whose one constant is danceability.
