The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organization in eastern Africa, which is mostly focused on promoting economic integration in the region. Member states include the DR Congo, Somalia, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania. This is their flag:
It’s about what you’d expect from such an organization. Pretty neutral, with a seal in the middle. The colored stripes feature every main color from the flags of the member states, which is a nice touch. It’s about as decent a flag as could be asked for, all things considered.
However,
over the past dozen-ish years, the EAC has been in talks to unite the members into a sovereign state which would be known as the East African Federation. They planned to have this accomplished by 2023, but a series of setbacks, most notably Covid, slowed down the process significantly, and while they’re still working on it, it’s unclear when exactly the federation will actually occur.
Regardless, while the above flag may be serviceable for an organization, I don’t think it would work on the international stage, and the Federation would need something better. So, I made them one.
This is my proposal:
The blue field remains, with its original symbolism of peace and the Great Lakes. I also kept the stripes idea, but I replaced the clashing colors with eight even white stripes for the eight founding members of the Federation.
The black pointed oval shape is based on the traditional shields of the region, which is seen in the coats of arms of Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, and on the flag of Kenya.
The multicolored star (plus the black shield) contains every major color on every member state’s flag, similar to the stripes in the incumbent flag. The lozenges coming together to form the star represents the unification of East Africa.

Eternity and Forever
WIP Intro
Length: three separated arcs
Arc 1: Eternity of Forever
Genre: not entirely sure
Status: planning
Themes: love, loyalty, empathy, immortality
Setting: all of history
Summary: Arioch is cursed, by the god of love, lessons, and eternity, to live forever - as a teenager. He vows to never have any involvement with the gods of his people again. But then he finds himself pulled both directions in a conflict he doesn’t have the option to stay out of. At least he’s no longer quite so alone.
Arc 2: Throughout Eternity
Genre: time-travel, apocalypse
Status: planning
Themes: friendship, found family, love, duty
Setting: all of history, plus some of the future
Summary: Quinton was born among the few survivors of the apocalypse, hiding from the goddess of carnage and destruction on a floating island. His ability to travel through time was discovered early and he was raised and trained with one purpose: stop it all from happening. Now he jumps around the timeline with a small team of renegades, trying to keep their enemy from gaining power. Though it would be a lot easier if he stopped getting distracted by the cantankerous immortal they may or may not have befriended.
Arc 3: Forever and After
Genre: superheroes
Status: planning
Themes: identity, friendship, forgiveness, what makes a monster?
Setting: near-ish future
Summary: After finally escaping his mother’s influence, Slythus attempted to live a normal life. It didn’t work out. So when his old friend, Arioch, passes away, he tries a different path. And enrolls in the hero school Arioch founded. Somehow he manages to make friends, and even gains the begrudging trust of a former enemy. But his mother’s reach goes further than he’d hoped, and he’s not quite as free of her as he thought.
Characters:
Arioch - An immortal teenager from near the dawn of humanity. Wants nothing more than the end of his curse, though some lasting company comes pretty close. His very smooth and cocky attitude is a lingering echo of an old life, hiding a great deal of pain and sadness. | demiromantic, mild sociopathy?, depressed | arcs 1 & 2
Quinton - A time-traveler from the apocalypse. Friendly and a little naive in certain areas, he struggles a bit with social skills and the proper manners of the eras he visits. He’s very driven but also willing to pursue his own happiness alongside his mission. | demiboy, pan | arcs 1 & 2
Warthog - The Goddess of Carnage and Destruction. Holds no value for life, and views the ultimate destruction of it at her hand as inevitable. Relishes cruelty and takes pleasure in the pain of others. Has been scheming and slowly working toward her goal, building armies and erasing opposition, since the beginning of the world. | arcs 1-3
Tara - A soldier from the far future who unwittingly worked for Warthog. Her platoon saw more than they were meant to and all but her were killed by their own government, she now seeks revenge. She’s very protective of her allies and a formidable opponent. Borderline mom-friend. | trans, bi? | arcs 1 & 2
Idania - A Cold War spy who’s double crossed every government she’s worked for and become the most wanted woman in the world. Has a reputation for always siding with her own interests above any possible loyalty. Joined Quinton’s team to escape the consequences of her actions but quickly grew fond of the patchwork band of misfits. | lesbian, Cuban | arcs 1 & 2
Taisha - A street kid from Chicago during the Great Depression and a pickpocket who dreams of being a jazz musician like her father. She’s the youngest of the team and the most enthusiastic, though she joined for the promise of regular meals and shelter. | aromantic, African American | arcs 1 & 2
Slythus - Warthog’s adopted son of unknown origins. He was raised to be her greatest weapon, a tool for her triumph. But, over the centuries, doubts crept into his mind and he slowly took control of his own life, learned how to be his own person. | race unknown, questioning -sexuality-wise | arcs 1-3
Prism - Became a superhero years before the Hero Council decided all minors with powers need to be trained properly and founded a hero school on a floating island. She’s a bit bitter that she has to go to school alongside all the powered kids that don’t have experience, but that’s nothing to going to school with her former nemesis Slythus. Her powers are light based. | lesbian | arc 3
Luna - An amnesiac alien who crash landed on the floating island of the hero school in an escape pod. She’s very sweet and incredibly naive, but will not hesitate to stand up for or to her friends. The first bridge between Prism and Slythus, due to her refusing to set aside her friendship with either of them. | demigirl, lesbian, humanoid bat alien | arc 3
Jack - The son of the last two people Slythus ever killed, he came to the school with a grudge. But Jack quickly recognized that nobody can hate Slythus for his past more than himself and that perhaps he deserves more than just Luna in his corner. He plays up the ‘humble rural boy with super-strength’ trope very successfully and is both well respected and seen as a little boring by his peers. | bi, Latino | arc 3
