Apparently? Lol. I mean I get that Percy’s a big fave, and I love him too, but even though he and Annabeth had important parts to play, it was obvious from the very first book of HoO that they were going to be supporting characters this time around. There’s even a conversation between Leo, Piper, and Jason in House of Hades where RR practically spells it out for us that those three characters are the ones who would be center stage at the end. And the whole thing about Percy’s sacrifice was hinted at several times in the series? That’s what the whole thing with Hazel working her spell on that resurrection potion (I’ve forgotten the actual name) was about. It was to fool the others as well, but especially Percy, and at the end he did indeed have to force himself to stand aside. I can understand why that might be unsatisfying, or why people didn’t like the actual execution of it (I had a lot of problems with that part myself), but I don’t think we can fairly say there was no foreshadowing for it or that RR is just retconning to cover his ass now.

Yeah, I thought that might maybe be disorienting for some people, but it’s so hard to find a good screenshot of the whole inquisition. I’ll replace it as soon as I find something better :)
