#Repost @flex_me_a_beer ・・・ Feels like an eternity since I’ve shouted out the guys @eagleparkbrewing so here’s my last can of the Dragonfruit Orange Mango Slush. It’s absolutely ridiculous and literally tastes like it’s ingredients! In my opinion these guys own the slush game with every one of them coming out around 8% ABV and you’d never guess it! Buffalo Curry Chicken Sandwich - coconut marinated and fried chicken, buffalo curry sauce, blistered cherry tomato, creamy dill slaw, lime raisin chutney, mixed pickles, garlic mayo, fresh herbs, karate chopped fries

This was my second visit to Eagle Park. In my first, the food was pretty bad in a way that was highly inconsistent with the praise I’d heard for it. This time around, things were much better.

This was a very good sandwich and fries. The sandwich was an interesting twist on buffalo chicken. The coconut milk played a really interesting roll in adding flavor depth and worked well with the jumble of toppings. The bun was toasted to the point of crunchiness on the inner sides and both added to the texture of the sandwich while also providing physical support. The chicken was fairly juicy and well encapsulated by a crispy breading. Fries were nice and salty with a little herb flavor.

My only real criticism of this meal was a lack of K.I.S.S. I think the kitchen put a lot of work into creating a lot of different components that didn’t come through much in the finished product. Other than the pickles, the toppings kind of blended together into one and probably could have been simplified a lot without sacrificing anything. I think the same can be said for the fries as they were served, though having more cheese would probably have been beneficial.

Smashburger - 1/3 lb. chuck/short rib smash patty, house cured bacon, Hook’s 5 Year American cheese, mixed pickles, pickled mustard seeds, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, garlic mayo, karate chopped fries (Cotija cheese, herbs, pickled mustard seed)

This should have been a great meal. It was a good concept - seasoned fried, a burger with creative and well executed toppings. Instead, I almost decided to leave the whole thing on the table. The fries were completely underdone - soggy on the outside, still hard in the inside. I’m guessing they were lacking a blanch. The burger was great except for the actual beef, which was atrocious - throw back to elementary school cafeteria, maybe worse. It either severely mis-seasoned, steamed for a very long time, or the meat was starting to spoil (which I believe to be the case). It was a real shame, because the rest of the burger elements worked really well, to the point that I actually ate the burger (though in retrospect I probably shouldn’t have). Oh well.

Important disclaimer: From what I’ve heard from others, this is not typical of Eagle Park food or their burger. Also, more importantly, I was going primarily for the beer which was very good (I enjoyed a BOTMs Up and Big BOTMs). I will certainly go back to Eagle Park for the beer, though I’ll definitely be more hesitant about ordering food.
