“But no tears fell from her carved eyes. It was just her magic-enhanced imagination.”
She’s such a doll
CEDAR redesign!! ngl most of those music picks are there because that's what i was listening when drawing her
the reason i gave her 80s inspired fashion is because (idk how this works) i imagine the wood she's made of was grown in the 80s and then was cut down in like 2000 and the she was made in around 2008 or 2007. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
OG Disney characters wearing their Ever After High counterpart's outfits !! :D (say that ten times fast)
EAH: Patron Greek Gods
Cupid’s existence pretty much confirmed that the Greek pantheon is canon to both Monster High and Ever After High. The gods tend to pick their favorites when it comes to heroes, so here’s who I think would patron whom in Ever After High:
getting fairest is the simplest out of the main doll lines yet it’s one of my favorites. the girls all just look so soft and elegant
makes me really wish we got more dolls in this line, especially these four
Epic Winter is criticized as EAH's worst special for many reasons. May I ask on how can you made the special better? Like character wise, story wise, and so on. Honestly it's a shame that the animation is so beautiful yet the plot falls flat like you can look away the flaws from other specials but not here.
i admit my feelings on Epic Winter are mostly neutral (except where the puns are concerned) so i haven't given this much thought. however, "The Snow Queen" is a tale very near and dear to my heart, as it inspired a WIP i worked on for a number of years. so
i guess to begin with, i never understood why EW existed in the first place. it makes sense that they'd want to introduce a new character/doll to market after moving on from the destiny conflict, but to whip out a totally new fairytale with no prior connection to the existing story? i understand they had to compete with Disney somehow (by this time Descendants had been out for a year and was a huge success), so it would have only been a matter of time before they put their own spin on "The Snow Queen." still, it wouldn't have been so jarring if they'd introduced Crystal before then, or at least made some allusion to her existence, esp since she's supposed to be close to Briar and Ashlynn or whatever (yeah, sure).
Crystal's character is its own set of problems. simply put, she isn't compelling at all. i would have preferred her to be more like Andersen's Snow Queen, wintry and proud. as it were, Crystal plays more the role of Gerda, the original heroine of the story. because we don't know enough of her to really root for her, i would have been more interested to see her as an antagonistic force, and then get to know her/her backstory (whatever that is honestly) after confronting her.
if you squint you can see some underpinnings of an arc about... overcoming incompetence born of privilege?, but the only characters who acknowledge she's spoiled are the villains. which is not helped by the fact that every major character in the special is either a Royal (destiny-wise) or a royal (class-wise). the original story is about two common-born children???? personally i think Cedar would make an amazing protagonist-of-sorts, because she would serve as a really good foil to the cold, bitter nature of the curse. she's not only completely honest; she's also really perceptive as an outsider to humanity, and is privy to all its flaws. but she's still capable of so much love and warmth, and never once has her bluntness gotten in the way of seeing beauty. i could wax on forever about how beautiful her povs are in the books because of this would this make sense destiny-wise? ... not really. but neither does the rest of the special, and anyway by this time we don't know what in ever after is going on with fairytale magic so imma just not think about that actually.
to be honest, i am not sure what Ashlynn or Briar were in the story for? neither of them were developed or had anything at stake except for their friendship with Crystal (which, again, we'd only been told about and never shown). to make them relevant, i'd have wanted to see more development of Ashlynn outside of her relationship with Hunter, bc we barely got any of that. i would explore her friendship with Rosabella too, and if we had more references to the original we'd get plenty more opportunities to do so because TSQ is full of animals. for Briar, honestly, her relationship to basically every other individual on the trip--Ashlynn, her current bestie; Blondie, her former bestie; Rosabella, her cousin; Faybelle, her destined nemesis who probably still wants their story especially since her mom never got to play out hers!!
that's a lot already, and i don't want this post to get too long lol. idk what i'd do with Daring and Rosabella because i'm just not a fan of the contradiction between books and series. the mob fairies were my favorite part of the special so we're keeping that. Blondie is still Blondie; while i would certainly not cry about her getting further development i don't think this would be the time and place, lol.
anyway this is all a bit scrambled-together, but these are just some of the ideas that came to mind! i'm sure there are a million other directions you could take it in.
