*****
Youremembered the day you got the confirmation.
Youwere so proud of yourself for making it into Starfleet Academy. Youthought your life would change and you’d finally start living thelife you had always dreamed of. You thought you would find friends whowould stay with you till the end and thought you’d maybe even findsomeone to fall in love with..
Now,that you had been going to school there for over a year, you realized how naive you had been.
ThisAcademy was no different from other schools. People were mean, onlycared about their own feelings and stabbed one in the back if needbe.
Sohere you were, sitting on a bench outside of the Academy and eating asandwich by yourself, because, once more, a group of girls, led by a bitch namedJuliet, decided they’d make fun of you in front of everyone when youdropped your lunch in the canteen, because she had tripped you.
Youhad thought about telling someone.. but you had your doubts about anyone caring about it.They all had money and didn’t get in because of intelligence, butbecause daddy decided to donate new equipment that the Academyneeded. No one would do anything about it.. and even if, you kind offeared what would happen to you if actions would be taken.
“Cadet (Y/L/N)?”
Youturned your head, surprise flashing over your face when CommanderSpock stood in front of you.
“Commander,”you quickly got up, a small blush spreading on your cheeks, “Sorry,I didn’t see you there.”
Spockturned his head to the Golden Gate Bridge, took some deep breaths, then returned his attention back to you.
“Whyare you out here on your own, Cadet (Y/L/N)?”
“I..uhm.. like the view,” he narrowed his eyes at you. You should haveguessed that lying to him wouldn’t work.
Yousat back down on the bench and he joined you, crossing his legs andlooking back at the Golden Gate.
Youhad talked to him a couple of times before, but never anything ofimportance. You didn’t really know him, even though you wish you did.He fascinated you..
Youhad a hard time thinking of what to say, so you ended up not sayinganything. You thought he would, eventually, but all he did was giveyou company.. something you could really use today.
“Aw..looks like you’ve found your first friend, (Y/N),” Juliet and hergoons walked over to you and you quickly gathered your books, readyto flee from them. But just when you wanted to reach for the lastone, Spock placed his hand over yours, stopping you from grabbing it. Your eyes met and for a moment you could’ve sworn that you saw a hint of a smile on his face.
Hethen got up, hands confidently behind his back and turned around.
Suddenly, the smug grins of the women were gone and replaced by shocked faces.
“CommanderSpock! We.. we didn’t know.. we’re so sorry.”
“Didyou know that this Academy does not tolerate mockery of otherstudents, Cadet?” he walked over to her until he stood right beside her, took one good look at her, then he walked off.
Julietdidn’t know what to do, but in the end decided to run after him.
Yousighed deeply, your shoulders sinking. You were glad that he saidsomething, but.. he didn’t seem to care much for it either. Julietwould be scared for the rest of the day and leave you alone andtomorrow it would be worse again. It always was..
thenext day
Youwere able to sleep, since your first class started at 1pm. Yourroommate had long gone to her first class herself, so you wereable to enjoy the quiet. Up until you could hear people yellingoutside..
Youhad already put on your uniform, so you opened the door to see whatall the fuss was about.
Whatyou saw in front of you.. you could not believe your eyes.
Fourrooms to your left was Juliet’s room. She stood outside of it,arguing with her father, while their ‘servants’ (or maybe they hadslaves.. you wouldn’t put it past them), were carrying out herstuff.. like she was.. going home? Two doors to your right, anotherof her girls squad was doing the same thing, only that both of herparents were present.
Julietspotted you standing in the hallway and quickly walked over to you.
“You!This is all your fault, you stupid..-,” she was about to slap you, when suddenly Spock appeared next to you, grabbing her wrist beforeher hand could reach your face.
“Itold you that this Academy does not tolerate mockery.”
Juliet’sfather ran after her and pulled her away, apologizing to Spock forher behavior.
Oncethey were gone, you turned to Spock.
“You..you did this?”
“Itwas only logical to report it.”
“Wasit? Her father funds some really important projects..”
Helooked down at you, his face as unemotional as ever.
“Isthat why you never reported it?”
Youlooked down to your feet.
“Ithought the Academy needed the money.. and even if I had.. no onewould have believed me.”
Spockstudied you for a moment, before he said: “I would have. I did.”
“Thenyou are very kind, Commander,” you took a step back and held outyour hand, “Thank you. You made my life a lot easier.”
Helooked at your hand, then back into your eyes, then back at yourhand, before taking it cautiously.
Yourromantic life was pretty much non-existent, probably because you wereso shy, so when you held his hand, you couldn’t suppress the blushthat started to show on your face. You didn’t pull your hand backand, to your surprise, neither did he.
Sothere you stood, in the middle of the hallway, pretty much holdinghands because neither of you wanted to pull back.
“Commander? There is something you should see,” you turned to look at the source of the voice while Spock continued to look at you, but still, he continued to holdyour hand. He nodded towards the man, a teacher, most likely, thenturned his head back to you.
“It’stime to go..”
“Ofcourse.. yeah, sure,” you cleared your voice and finally let go ofhis hand, “Thanks again,” you murmured.
Hestarted to walk towards the man, then suddenly stopped and turnedback around.
“Cadet?”
“Yes?”
“Imeant that it was time to go for the both of us. I would like you to joinme.”
“You..want..-?”
“Icould use your expertise.”
Thiswas the first time ever since you joined the Academy that someoneasked for your opinion.. and would value it.
“I..-,”you began, then quickly cleared your throat again and tried to bemore confident, “would be honored, Commander,” you smiled at him.
