Guide to replacing ear pads on Rydohi R916 Bluetooth Headphones
This is pretty different from my usual content, but I had a bit of trouble replacing the cushions on this model and couldn't find anything online so I thought I'd make my own guide now that I've figured it out. You should be able to follow this guide even if you've never replaced ear pads before.
What cushions to buy
I used 85mm ear pads, but I think 90mm might work too. If you want pads made of the same material, go for protein leather. Otherwise, choose based off your preferences.
Removal
The edge of the ear pads are inserted into a lip around the perimeter of the speaker. There's two ways you can remove the earpads. I recommend the first because it'll make the replacement part easier.
Your first option is to pry off the plastic piece that's closest to the cushion. I suggest starting by pulling on the old cushion until you can see the plastic. You'll notice that there's 4 snap-on things that the pads are stuck on. Take a prying tool of some kind (I used tweezers), stick it into the lip near one of the snap-ons, and jiggle it till it unsnaps. Do this for each snap until it's free, then you can remove the old cushion.
If you're worried about accidentally breaking the plastic piece or something, there's another way. Start by pulling on the old cushion, and again you'll see that it's stuck on the snap-ons. The edge of the headphones will seem to form a loop of fabric, with two pairs of stringy fabric visible around each snap. Take some scissors and cut on side of each pair, then you'll be able to pull the other side off. At this point you can still pry off the plastic thing if you want now that you have a better view, or you can skip it.
Replacement
You have two options for how to put the new cushion on depending on how you removed the old ones.
If you removed the plastic piece: Simply wrap the edge of the new cushion around the piece, line it up with where it was previously attached, and snap it back on.
Otherwise: Start at any point of the perimeter of the lip and insert the thin edge of the cushion. Keep inserting the edge bit by bit until you've gone around the whole thing. And with that, you should be done. Enjoy your new ear pads!
