hi! i've recently started looking into becoming a hobbyist steel type trainer. i love my little klinks and bronzors and feel very comfortable taking care of them & maintaining them. what i'm a little less sure about is how they might differ from more biological-adjacent steels, like skarmorys or mawiles. any tips?
The main difference is usually in their diets. The plating on Steel-types is almost universally made of inert metallic compounds so they don't pose a lot of environmental concerns besides heat.
Mawiles and similar forms of Steel-types need a decently rounded diet (depending on their specifics) than Klinks and Magnemites. A lot of the latter category aren't interested in conventional food at all, with Magnemite able to subsist on electricity alone and many eating purely to recoup any lost metals and alloys.
That said! Most Steel-types, even the ones that don't resemble typical biology at all, do still have some degree of organic biochemistry. This is usually in the form of an internal stomach organ that decomposes matter into things it can use.
Their highly metallic forms then accumulate the remaining metals, resulting in their classification and appearance. Much like scaly-foot gastropods, this makes them Incredibly durable, but there's still something under the armour that's more vulnerable.
The durability of Steel-types means that if you're a bit unsure what to feed them, if anything, you can offer them small food items to nibble and see what they go after and what happens. Anything that isn't outright poison is unlikely to give them much more than light diarrhoea, so you can work out a safe and healthy meal plan for them.
Of course, always defer to the expertise of your local poke-professional.
could you draw a character that you have talked to me about which is a homestuck troll whose character arc is based on the abuse he has suffered aat the hands of highbloods and his complex relationship with them who symbolically is connected to a certain ungulate farm animal
and equius too
who is that guy. seems cringe
