For a Hanyou Holidays Easter, a bit softer drabble this year. With sweet lovely art by @brain-rot-hour
It had been a silly idea. An impulsive decision. Kagome saw the shirt online and couldn't resist. “Hot Cross Bun in the oven!” was boldly emblazoned across her chest and the roundness of her belly. It was a fun way to officially announce the pregnancy to people who didn't already know. At just over sixteen weeks, she was pretty well showing, a distinct roundness to her belly. But there was still a ways to go before the pup was born. She hadn’t told anyone that wasn’t family, which included the Old Guys at the gym. He kept hearing how he’d better do right by Kagome, or else. Inuyasha fiddled with his phone, trying to get the settings right so the pictures would turn out well. But he couldn't help stopping to stare at her, dazed, unconsciously snapping several shots in a row. Standing with her hands on her belly, Kagome's face was soft, serene. Happy. Inuyasha blinked in awe of how stunningly beautiful his fiancee was. It was hardly a stretch to imagine her cradling their pup against her with a very similar look in her eyes. “You ready, Inuyasha?” She asked, startling him back to attention. He knew she meant ready to take pictures, but his brain was already thinking ahead to when they would meet their child. When they would actually get to hold them in their arms. “Yea. I'm ready.” She smiled and he snapped several more photos without even looking. The camera settings, lighting, and the angles didn't really matter. She always looked beautiful, no matter what. There ended up being several photos to choose from for the announcement they posted, but there was one from that soft unassuming moment that Inuyasha printed and kept for himself. To look back on and show their pup later.
