Highlights include aliens, Wal-Mart, and more jingoism then a Michael Bay movie. C'mon you apes, you wanna live forever?!
I consider Gangs of New York a good movie. I need to read the book one of these days.

ECHO: What’s been keeping you busy recently? What’s in London?
SUFJAN: I’ve been reading Bonhoffer’s letters from prison. Also, I run. I do my own weird version of Yoga. I knit a lot. I’ve just learned the European way now, and it’s frustrating, but much faster. Also, I design children’s books, for schools. This is my day job right now. It’s really quite a lot of fun Photoshopping cow udders (there’s a general rule in educational publishing: no nipples). God help us. What’s in London? The Queen Mother’s decomposing body. God Bless Her!
ECHO: What went into the writing and recording of “Greetings From Michigan?”
SUFJAN: My heart. All of it. My guts, my intestines, my diaphragm. I pulled a few muscles. I had a few breakdowns. If you saw what I did to make this record you would have called 9-1-1.
ECHO: What do you enjoy the most about the Great Lakes State? The least?
SUFJAN: I love the great lakes, of course. Lake Michigan in July. At night. With a wicker chair and can of kerosene and a book of matches and my friends huddled under towels. What do I hate? Strip malls. Fast food chains. The heavy weight of sameness that has put itself over every little town. Also, overweight middle class white people. Just kidding. I love everyone exactly the same amount.
