I DO have a general annoyance though: my university hired someone with the same name as me as an adjunct so I keep getting her students emailing me lol. These kids gotta read their syllabi!!!!

oh noooooooo I can tell you as an adjunct that the kids absolutely do not read their syllabi. or anything else, half the time, except when they're finding my Latin errors.

my university e-mail curse is that my university goes "[first initial] [first five letters of surname] [# if there are multiple people with the same first initial/first five letters of surname combo]", which as someone with a six letter last name means the last letter gets lopped off mine. AND my previous university e-mail was "[first initial] [surname] [#]." my current e-mail is one number and one letter off my old e-mail. (which I now have fully memorized, but which drove me crazy when I first got here seven years ago.)

I’m not one to usually get too worked up about differences between movie/tv and books but decades later I’m still annoyed they cast Boromir and Faramir in LOTR as having ginger/light brown hair and not raven black!

oh man LotR hair color differences. (which I am mostly neutral about.) I've got the -- I think it's the LotR arms and armor book, but one of the many excellent BTS books from back when, and every time I get to the Legolas page I crack up because they have to say "well, some stories say he's white blonde (movie Legolas) and some stories say he's got brown hair (book Legolas)."

(I think? It's been like a decade since I looked at that book and it's at my parents' house so I can't check.)
