Today is Good Friday. But what makes it so good?
today we remember Jesus being unfairly tried, tortured, beaten, whipped, cursed, spat on, carried his cross to Calvary where he was nailed by the hands and feet on a cross where he was suffocating barely holding on for air and suffered one of the worst deaths imaginable. His suffering is what makes today so good. His ultimate sacrifice was taking out place in our punishment. we all deserved to be up there because of our relationship with sin, which is death. yet because Jesus, God incarnate coming down to live a perfect life so that He could go to the slaughter as our sacrificial lamb, to be abandoned and abused, He washed our sins free because of His absolutely overwhelming love for humanity and you personally. to think of the true pain and sacrifice, even to the point of Jesus asking for the burden to be taken away from Him, But was obedient to the plans of the Lord faced death. to contemplate such an ultimate sacrifice for me personally is so overwhelming, heartbreaking and just so encouring beyond belief. to a point i can only tear up because of understanding the gravity of what was given up for each person if they so believe. so today is Good because it was so horrible for Jesus. That he was given our punishment, He took our place and now we are clean and forgiven, holy and blameless in the eyes of the Lord, so that we can have a personal and intimate relationship with Him if we just reach out. The relationship we have now with the Lord through the Death and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ is what makes today just so absolutely good. More than Good! The best news you could ever hear ✨✨
