The days got longer and longer. It seemed she was there every morning when I would wake up in our bed. When I would awake, the reality set in and I knew I was just dreaming. Or around six every evening, I would think I heard her car pull up, she was home from work. But no one ever came through the door. I would smell her sometimes in our room, and turn thinking she was behind me, but alas, no one. When one looses a partner, it's like a part of you is no longer there. An appendage is missing.
I know she would be upset, me sitting here pining over her. Wallowing in my self pity and loss. I must move on, but I don't know where to start. About three weeks after Tari's funeral, Anthony Hudson proposed to Tatum, and they were married immediately. She said she wanted to move on, and start fresh as soon as she could. I understood.
The boys didn't talk much, I knew they were hurting, especially Hayden. I didn't push I just let them know I was there when they were ready.
Finally I had to make a decision. I made a promise to her, to move on. I knew this was the answer, I just wasn't sure if the kids would be okay with it. I called them for a meeting, including Tatum.
EASTON: "Listen kids, I know things have been rough. For all of us. A lot of changes. I hate to add anything else, but I think for my own well-being I have to do this, but I won't if you kids don't want it."
TATUM: "Dad, we will support you a 100%. You need to do what you need to do. Mom wanted that for you." Right guys?"
The boys agreed, but didn't look up from their books
EASTON: "I have to sell the house. I can not stay here anymore. Every where I look she is here. Every room I go into I smell her, or hear her footsteps or her laughter. This was our home, and in order to move on, I have to say goodbye."
HAYDEN: "You are taking me and Mathias with you right??"
EASTON: "Of course, son. I want you two to help me look for a place. We can make it our own, and I think it will help all of us. Now that Tatum and Anthony are married, I would like to move closer to them. So we will look towards their part of town."
MATHIAS: "I'm in. I can't take it any more either. She is everywhere here."
HAYDEN: "I understand, but if we move... won't we forget?"
EASTON: "Never son. I will not let that happen. I also want you guys to think about what to do with all her paintings. I thought of maybe opening an art studio. You know in her name. Where students can come and take classes. Her friend Ian said he would love to teach a few nights a week. All at no cost, and we could share her paintings there as inspiration."
TATUM: "That is an amazing idea. She would have loved that."
EASTON: "Okay, it's settled. We can start looking this weekend for a new house boys, and Tatum, you and I can look for places for the studio."
