Contest!

Hi there people!

If you’re following me, you know that I am doing a Tarot challenge in October that is 100% different from the one I’m currently doing. It’s going to be horror, it’s going to be monsters and it’s going to be prizes.

The problem is that I don’t have a name for it. All the good Divination challenges have names. There was Tarotpocalypse (done by princess-of-pentacles ). There is the upcoming Calamity Casino (presented by tarotofthekittenofblade). bibliophilicwitch is working on her Divine Nation. I, however, am not good at names. Divine Poetry was a fluke and I think it came to me before I designed the challenge.

I need a name.

This is where you come in. The October challenge needs a name. I am putting the responsibility on you, denizens of Tumblr.

The rules are simple: 1. The name must reflect a horror theme. Not October, not Halloween. It’s a horror theme, but has nothing to do with Halloween or October. 2. You must be 18 and willing to give me your address. There is going to be a small prize. You don’t get to know what it is, and it is small, but it will be sent to you. 3. You must get your entry in by May 31, 2015. I will be keeping track! 4. You must inbox it to me and put the words “October Challenge” in the message so I know what you’re on about. I will inform you privately if I know that I won’t be using yours. I will let you know as soon as I know I’m not interested in your title. That way you have plenty of time to try again. 5. You must be okay with me publishing your answer. I will likely be choosing the best ones and showing them off, even if I don’t use them. 6. Have fun. 7. Optional: reblog. It would be cool if lots of people could see this.

Character Naming Contest!

So, I've been writing a book recently, and I think that this could be a really good story. For character names, I've been sticking to more common names (Josie, Christine, Hunter, etc.). This is mainly because a lot of names in today's fiction are getting REALLY weird and I'm not really a fan of really weird names in any kind of fiction that isn't sci-fi, dystopian, or fantasy. However, I have one character that really, really, really needs a name. I was using the name Rocky for him, but my "supervisor" won't let me do that (for some really dumb reasons). So, I looked up similar names but I hate most of what I found. So, I really need some help. So, as the title implies, this is a naming contest. Your task is to give me a name you think would be great for the character. Below, I have included a physical description of him and a description of his personality, to help. Physically, he has light brown hair and light, light blue eyes, and a very bright smile. His teeth are straight (he had braces). He's 5'9". He has pretty strong, toned, and muscly arms, and this comes from him being a swimmer and doing some cross-training. Now, before he starts sounding like a Mary-Sue (or Marty-Stu or Gary-Stu if you call a male Mary-Sue something else), here's what his personality is like. I'll try my hardest to not make this all over the place, but no promises. He is a pretty good worker, but he is also a perfectionist, so he gets in his own way often. He holds a part-time job as a cashier. He's a freshman in college, and gets pretty good grades, but he has no idea about what he wants to do as a career. That's mostly due to the fact that he tends to be too caught up in the present that he doesn't care about (or feels like he doesn't have time to care about) anything further into the future than tomorrow. He tries his hardest to be friendly and social, but that only makes him come across as socially awkward to other people. He's one of those people that can drag on conversations forever. But overall, he's kind of funny and he's a good guy. Okay, so that's him in a nutshell. Now, let's talk rules and how to enter. RULES AND HOW TO ENTER Rules: 1) SERIOUS NAME SUGGESTIONS ONLY. That's the only rule I can think of. I only want serious name suggestions. By "serious name" I mean no submitting "Poop" or "Penis" or "Faggot" as a name. If you do, you'll be disqualified, which is a given. That's literally the only rule for the contest, so follow it. How To Enter: Submit your name idea in my ask box. Please do not submit it anonymously, I want to be able to find you if you win. You only have to submit a first name, but if you want to include a last name, you can. Submit in this format: [Name suggestion here]: [Your first name and the first initial of your last name] It's that easy, and that's all you have to do. Really. Now, let's talk prizes. PRIZES The winner will get: ~A blog promo ~An imagine written by me about them and any character they choose from any fandom. ~Their name on the acknowledgements page in the book, crediting them for the character's name ~A copy of the finished book (the winner will have to wait a little while for this) ~And the satisfaction of knowing that they helped name a character.
