🐣 #happyeaster #happyspring #capturecalgary #easyer Somebody in my neighborhood puts up these seasonal displays. Usually fanciful fairy houses or cheerful artwork crafted with whimsy & fun. I don't know who does it but it is obvious the intent is to delight those of us that frequent this popular pathway. Particularly during the pandemic, I am grateful for each thoughtful iteration - it makes me smile & adds a little joy to my day. There are many ways to respond to the pandemic. 1️ There are those that resist the inconvenience & discomfort of having to go through a global pandemic. You have those that publically revolt against the government measures to stop the spread. Those all the ones that like to march with tiki torches & cause a ruckus in Costco about mask wearing etc. But also a more private mutany - inherent in those that reject reality of a spreading deadly virus & who choose subvert the rules whenever they can. They are probably the reason we are now ushering a new 3rd wave of infections ... 2️ People who follow the rules but still wish/long for things to be different/better. These are the ones we experience the most amount of angst or depression. The pandemic is hard on them & they feel the hardships profoundly. Then there are those who are able to circumvent these feelings & use this time to enrich/improve their lives in someway - either through cultivating healthy habits or new hobbies etc. I probably fit somewhere inbetween these two responses - there are days when the pandemic reality has been the bitterest pill to swallow but this has also been a time of tremendous & rewarding personal growth. 3️Then you have the rare individuals who is able to look beyond themselves & find unique ways to serve the community. People who work towards making things better for everyone else. Like whomever it is that makes these beautiful things to share with strangers. People who just happened along the path & who might need something to make them smile as we go through this hard thing together. Not everyone can - some are too busy surviving to do this - but for those that care & give - it's appreciated 💟.
