✿ Appearance: “Another lovely lady. Been meeting a lot of those lately. She cleans up nicely, but I doubt she really needs to. Strikes me as the kind of nobleman who usually doesn’t look for love outside his own circles. You know, the sort who thinks certain things and people are beneath him. He made an exception for Venreena and now they’re getting married. Says something about her looks that I can’t.”
☼ Personality: “Which one? The Venreena I first met was very standoffish, and admirably steadfast about her lifestyle. Then at Lady Gregory’s tea, she was very polite, and less outspoken, if I remember right. Seemed different than the woman I’d met. Get the feeling she… I won’t say desperately, but she wants to belong in that sort of company. I suppose I take for granted that, despite how new I am to it, I at least have a title. The other nobles automatically view me as an equal. Miss Thorne feels like she has to earn that, I think; something about how her attitude changed when everyone started obsessing over her ring, and the engagement..”
✉ Intelligence: “Mm. Okay, this is going to be mostly guesswork. Only spoken to the woman twice. I’d say… She has street smarts. Knows what she wants, knows how to get it. Knows people pretty well, probably, and how to blend into different crowds. Don’t know about academics, but I’d say she knows enough math not to get cheated in business. She’s definitely not unintelligent, but I think we’re alike in that neither of us can be considered scholars.”
☠ Battle Prowess: “I’m sure she’s good in a fight. Fists, blades, she can probably handle both with skill. Haven’t seen her do it yet, but call it a hunch, aye?”
♥ Romantic Potential: “You know, you’re right - suddenly I do fancy a roll in the hay with another woman. But seriously, stop asking.”
✘ Secrets: “Like hairs on her head. I’d bet money on it. Woman’s got a past, one that she’d probably prefer didn’t work its way into her new lifestyle. The big question I have is whether or not her fiance knows all her secrets, or just thinks he does.”
☯ Decisions: “I know of two: she agreed to marry Cedrick Holt, and she’s chosen to conduct business with my nephew. The latter, I’m sure she knows what she’s doing. Garver is sharp, but she’s probably sharper. Still, he makes his living - so it’s probably a safe bet to hire him for whatever she wants him to do. As far as Lord Holt goes? I’m not sure. I think she loves him, but he seems like a spiteful, even quickly-angered, man. But I can’t really get a read on him. I’m not sure how much he’s husband material, so I don’t know if that was a good choice on Venreena’s part. Time will tell, I guess - hopefully it was a good one. For her sake.”
